SIGN UP TOGETHER BY APRIL 30TH AND GET $10.00 OFF EACH TUITION! Plan an exciting summer with our convenient event calendar The Paint Box Mysteries unfold as each day a new set of clues leads us to a new time and place and a new medium to explore. Each camp offers an exciting format for learning art and science, concentrating on the weekly theme and engaging campers in the process. With treasure hunts, games and stories we will sharpen life skills such as following directions and working together as a team in a small group setting. In the studio, campers create their own art in a step-by-step process aimed to increase artistic observation, drawing skills and confidence. Science also comes to life with experiments and studies in natural history and color theory. Our home field and studio is conveniently located one block from Chastain Park playground and all camps are led by Christy Knight, Art Coach and Illustrator. Please pack a lunch for your child. Filtered cold water and a snack are provided. June 1-5 or July 13-17 What does it take to fly? WINGS! Let butterflies, birds and airplanes inspire our wind-worthy creations as they soar into the blue June sky. Then we’ll learn how to draw and paint winged animals as we map their migrations across the globe. Our last day will include an explorer’s dessert buffet of tempting treats. June 15-19 “How to” will be our quest this week as we focus on specific techniques for the mature artist. Mediums explored include graphite transfers, cross hatching with pen and ink, and creating layered texture with watercolor, gouache and acrylic paints. Our final presentations will be followed by a tasting of our own Popsicle flavor creations. July 20-24 Seurat, Monet, Cezanne, Bonnard, Matisse, Cassatt, Rousseau... A well-loved program returns for exhibition…explore the concepts of impressionism, pointillism, expressionism, cubism and naive art styles. With art history studies, engaging games and painting “en plein air”, students will try their hand at some techniques used by the masters while expressing their own voices through painting. Friday we will “travel to Paris” and enjoy homemade crepes! July 27-31 Late summer is a magical time for wildflowers along the Chattahoochee River. We’ll learn how to identify and recreate some of our candy-colored favorites as we listen to their stories. Mornings will begin in the field for first-hand study and fresh air. Then in the studio we’ll draw and paint these enchanting blooms to keep long after they fade, and Friday we’ll celebrate all our hard work with a flower dessert! Camps begin at 9am and end at 2pm Monday through Friday. *Extend day to 3pm option, $8 per day. All camps are $225 per session (missed days or hours can be prorated with advanced notice) plus a $25 supply fee due upon registration. (Form follows.)
