POSITION SUMMARY
The Audit Specialist position is responsible for conducting audits for the Gaming Commission to assess
effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records and efficiency of casino operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi reserves the right to change, amend, add, delete and
otherwise assign any and all duties, responsibilities, and positions titles as it deems necessary to meet the needs
of the government.
 Audits records of departments and interviews Casino employees to ensure recording of transactions and
compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
 Knowledge and/or practical experience with BSA/AML – Title 31.
 General knowledge of G.A.A.P. and S.O.X., through experience, schooling or both.
 Examines casino department activities for compliance with management objectives, internal controls,
policies and procedures.
 Inspects accounting systems to determine their efficiency and protective value.
 Analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, fraud or lack of
compliance with laws, government regulations and management policies and procedures.
 Prepares and submits audit findings.
 Audits various non-gaming departments.
 Produces detailed reports for the Gaming Commission.
 Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications: An individual must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform each essential
function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability
required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications.
 AS or AA in Accounting, General Business or equivalent experience related to Audit /Compliance
 Auditing experience in the Gaming Industry and/or related experience
 Must be able to travel
 Must be able to successfully complete and pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug

screening. Must meet Standards of a Gaming License.








Ability to work well independently and with team members and other staff in a team-oriented environment.
A willingness to initiate contacts with new people.
Ability to comprehend and abide by Tribal, federal and other relevant environmental regulations/codes.
Must be able to adjust schedule as needed and or required.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and other software.
Ability to understand and interpret findings against Tribal regulations and applicable laws, National Indian
Gaming Commission (NIGC) and Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) regulations and standards.
Excellent observation, interview, verbal and writing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 Native American Gaming Industry experience is preferred.
 Knowledge of and familiarity with Native American culture, customs and language preferred.
 BS, BA degree is preferred.

Multiplication, Division, Fractions and Percentages.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of potential issues and variables
in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software;
Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
