Sincerely, Kelly Cavanagh Dean, ITT Technical Institute Hilliard, Ohio College Prep Enrollment in Technical Programs Counselor/Teacher Information PURPOSE: To introduce high school seniors to career paths in the following areas: Computer Electronics Engineering Technology Computer Drafting and Design Visual Communications Computer Network Systems Criminal Justice Business Administration College Prep Enrollment in Technical Programs with ITT Technical Institute incorporates the college to career transition concept that offers high school seniors a head start in their postsecondary education by attending an accredited, degree granting, technical college. BENEFITS: Waiver of tuition related to the courses passed Use of texts, software/hardware while in attendance Early exposure to an accessible, safe and well-equipped technical college environment Potential for entering workforce earlier as a result of entering ITT Technical Institute with first quarter credit. EXPECTATIONS: High school students attending in the College Prep Enrollment Program are welcomed as collegebound applicants. In an adult environment, students are expected to stay focused, committed, and encouraged to provide their best effort. To assist students to become successful, a contact person from the high school is necessary. This person is expected to contact the college on a weekly basis concerning their high school student’s attendance, class work, attitude, time management and grades. If any high school students have special needs, we will evaluate the IEP and communicate what reasonable accommodations can be made as we are willing to work with students with special needs. Students must adhere to all rules and policies of their home school and ITT Technical Institute. ELIGIBILTY: Must be a Senior Must have parental/legal guardian signature as consent to participate in the program. Must complete the Application (Part 1) and Essay (Part 2). Must have transportation to/from class. Must successfully achieve a passing score on the ITT Technical Institute Admissions test. Must receive consent to participate from the resident high school Guidance Counselor. Consent should be on School Letterhead signed by the recommending counselor. Counselors will forward the completed Application, Consent Letter and Copy of current transcript to: Attn: Director of Recruitment at the ITT Hilliard Campus FEES: There are no tuition fees for participants or the resident high school to participate in this program. The only fee associated with this program is the cost of books. GRADES/ATTENDANCE: Grades are calculated according to the syllabus for that particular course. Most grades focus on quizzes, exams, homework, participation, mid-term and final exams. Students who pass the College Prep Enrollment courses with a grade of C or higher, will receive a grade of “CR” in the course upon starting a program at ITT Technical Institute. Regular attendance is required. Students participating in the College Prep Enrollment Program at ITT Technical Institute are expected to maintain a minimum of 80 % attendance and a GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale; additionally, students must maintain the attendance and GPA requirements of their home school. In the event a participant does not maintain both attendance and required GPA at both institutions, for any consecutive two {2} week timeframe, the student will be dismissed from the College Prep Enrollment Program. Participants will receive 4 credit hours of CR credit per class, up to a total of 12, by successfully completing and passing the class with a C or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Credit earned in the College Prep Enrollment Program will be awarded to the student when he/she starts their chosen program of study. Credit will be designated with a grade of “CR” upon starting a program at ITT Technical Institute. The credit will be factored into the student’s financial aid package for the first academic year. Credit for the course will be forwarded to the Financial Aid department at ITT Technical Institute by the Registrar’s office upon notification from the Dean that the student has successfully completed the course, based on the requirements noted in the catalog at the time the student takes the course. DAYS AND TIME: Classes can be arranged in two formats. Approved students can join a regular evening session which meets from 6:00pm to 10:30pm one night a week. Alternatively students may join a regular day session which meets from 9:30-1:30pm.
