Leeds Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres (SILCS), Partnership Schools and Resourced Provisions There are six Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres (SILCs) in Leeds. One in each of the five areas of the city and a further SILC for children with severe Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD SILC). A SILC school will provide teaching to children and young people who have severe and complex difficulties and are unable to access mainstream provision. If your child is functioning at a higher level and is academically able to access mainstream school but still requires specialist staff, then they may be able to attend a partnership school. A partnership school has teachers that are employed by the SILC but work in a mainstream school. A further option is a resourced provision, these are based in mainstream schools and each one has its own specialist area, for example; speech, language communication, moderate learning difficulties and severe learning difficulties. Children are fully included in the mainstream school, whilst receiving the specialist interventions they need to address their individual needs.
