Suggested not to do any intercultural operations at plant base during initial stages of fruiting and to spray 10 mg of 2, 4- D per lit of water. Informed that young plants have to be irrigated once in 3 days for 6 months where as fruiting plants should not be exposed to water stress. Plants have to be irrigated once in 25-30 days after fruit formation and one more time 30 days later and also after harvest. Suggested to stop watering one month before harvest Informed that generally mango can be planted from June- Dec. where as in low rainfall areas planted in June-July and in the month of Oct- Nov in high rain fall areas. Also Informed that soil has to be ploughed 2-3 times and leveled before planting. Also advised not to grow nutrient exhaustive crops like maize and sugarcane and also red gram which is prone to mealy bug attack and also grasses like Napier that causes Zn. Deficiency in soils. Suggested to spray either Chloropyrephas 2.5 ml or Nuvan 1.5 ml per lit of water for control of leaf Webber. Informed that mango fruits have to be naturally ripened and using chemicals or artificial ripening is prohibited. Dipping fruits in 6% wax solution delays ripening process for 2-4 days which does not affect both weight loss and also controls pests and diseases. Advised to apply 100 g of borax and 2.5 kg of MOP per plant and irrigate the plants. Informed that fruit drop in coconut may happen due to K deficiency hence suggested to apply 2.5 kg MOP per plant along with 1 kg Urea and 2 kg SSP. Informed that except in peak winter papaya can be sown any time in the year if assured water facility is available. Suggested to apply trichoderma viridi developed @ 1 kg with 90 kg of FYM + 10 kg neem cake + 1 kg jaggery or drench the plant base with 2 g redomil M-Z per lit of water if the incidence is severe. Advised to spray either Monocrotophas 1.6 ml or Dimethoate 2 ml of water for control of leaf miner Informed that depending on size and shape there are few recommended sapota varieties like cricket ball, Dwarapudi, which are large and round shaped, keerthi barthi, PKM-1, PKM-3, DHM-1 and DHM-2 are oblong type of fruit varieties. Advised to apply 50 kg of FYM + 1 kg of caster caster cake + 1 kg of Bone meal pr plant in the month of JuneJuly. Apply 500 g of Urea + 700 g of SSP + 200 g of MOP 2 times in June-July and Aug-Sept months. Fertilizers Advised to apply Urea 1 kg + 1.25 kg SSP + 850 g of MOP per plant per year. Varieties Informed that lucknow-49, kohir safeda, arka mrudula, swetha are white flesh varieties, where as redflesh, lalith, kiran, are varieties having red pulp. Removing tillers Suggested to remove the side shoots/tillers once in every 20-25 days till the bunches are half developed so that mother plant grows healthy. Season Informed that depending on type of variety banana can be sown throughout the year. However planting between April- Aug is better, and potti pacha arati and pedda pacha arati varieties are planted during rainy season from June to Sept. Fertilizers Advised to apply SSP 313 g and 5 kg of FYM at the time of planting rhizome saplings And 434 g of Urea and 334 g of MOP per plant in 4 equal splits at 45, 90, 135 and 180 days after planting.
