NYU SPEED MENTORING EVENT NYU Speed Mentoring Event
the evening of Jan 22 , NYU-­‐SPS On campus was filled with close to 60 eager students, PMI members and non-­‐PMI members for a Speed Mentoring Event. It was a great collaborative event between PMI-­‐NYC and NYU-­‐SPS nd
Speed mentoring extends the speed-­‐
networking concept to professional learning and development in an engaging format. This initiative gives participants the opportunity to network and learn from experienced advisors in short bursts of time Evening was quite a success with our esteemed 9-­‐mentor team: Rabih Vincent Alali, PMP, MBA, CPHIMS, Charles Cirronella, ITIL. John Conti, PMP, Edward Kleinert, MBA, MPH, PMP, Lawrence Mantrone, PMP, CSM , Mary Anne Martucci, PMP, Holly Ripley, PMP, CSM PMI-­‐NYC President Elect , Frank Saladis, PMP, PMI-­‐Fellow, PMI-­‐NYC President , Cark Webb, PMP, CCM Evening kicked off with 0pening remarks by Tatiana Riviera, Program Director, NYU SPS and VP outreach Suzan Cho. Then Academic program Manager Anna Thomas introduced the mentors and the topics for the events Each mentee was assigned with their choice of 4 topics in the 4 -­‐ 30 min sessions. The Power of Networking – Who you know can change your career path, The Temple of Project Management, Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration -­‐ Key to Project Success, Job Offers and Negotiations (winning strategies), Agile Project Management, The Value of Methodology -­‐ Steps to build corporate adoption, Project Retrospectives -­‐ Why and How to run a valuable session, Developing Leadership Skills, Effective Project Communications IN THIS ISSUE Networking session where the participants were eager to learn more followed the event. Due to the interest and the energy this generated NYU SPS and PMI NYC are planning more events for the future. Closing remarks were given by Tatiana Riviera and Suzan Cho to stress the value of these programs and how NYU SPS and PMI NYC can be utilized to further their growth in Project Management This is just start of a great year with great partnership between PMI NYC and NYU SPS.
