Faculty Openings in LSU’s Cain Department of Chemical Engineering
The Cain Department of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University is seeking to fill new
tenure-track, assistant-professor positions in the broad research areas of "Energy" and the
"Environment," with a preferred start date of Fall 2015. We invite outstanding applicants with a
doctoral degree in chemical engineering (or closely related field) from a recognized institution,
and a proven record of academic accomplishment. The broad research area of "Energy" includes,
but is not limited to, such subfields as fundamental experimental and/or computational studies on
energy and energy-efficient manufacturing from renewable resources, on combustion, or on
development of innovative chemical and electrochemical processes for energy production,
conversion & storage, including batteries/fuel cells. The broad research area of "Environment"
includes, but is not limited to, such subfields as fundamental experimental and/or computational
studies on environmental transport & fate, atmospheric processes, environmental chemodynamics,
separations/water quality, innovative green engineering processes, and global sustainability issues.
The successful candidates are expected to build a strong and vibrant research program in their
chosen research area, by working both individually and collaboratively.
Chemical Engineering at LSU is over 100 years old and since its inception it has served the needs
of the active chemical, petrochemical, energy production, sugar and allied industries in Louisiana.
LSU is designated as the Flagship University in the state. It is the largest institution of higher
education in the state and is the only public university in the state to be designated a Carnegie
Research I University. Our home of Baton Rouge is known for its natural and cultural
distinctiveness. Over three hundred chemical companies along the Mississippi river offer
significant opportunities for University-Industry engagement.
