The key to developing higher-order thinking skills (especially cognitive functioning at the application and analysis level) is bringing reality into the learning and assessment processes. Using the NCLEX® Test Plans as that vehicle to reality is benefits all levels of the nursing curriculum. Not only are outcomes better, but civility and collaboration can become the norm. Using active learning strategies, evidence-based assessment principles, and a sanity-saving approach, each participant will experience first-hand these curricular threads that are essential to developing the next generation of nurses.
