PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The themes for this year’s program include endocrinology,
gastroenterology, respiratory medicine and emergency/critical
care. Areas of emphasis will include advances in the diagnosis and
treatment of feline asthma, use of therapeutic trials in patients with
chronic diarrhea, updates on the management of diabetes mellitus,
managing the patient presenting with acute respiratory distress and
acute coughing, practicalities of blood transfusions, indications and
interpretation of venous acid base and lactate measurements, new
and controversial diagnostics and therapeutics for endocrine disease,
diagnosis and treatment of chronic pancreatitis, recent advances in
exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, update on trilostane treatment for
hyperadrenocorticism, and monitoring oxygenation and ventilation
in general practice.

TRAVEL CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations made any time after deposit is received will incur a $75.00
per person administrative charge. Cancellations made 90-75 days prior
to departure will be charged $150.00 per person, 74-61 days prior to
departure will be charged $250.00 per person, and 60 days or less prior,
there will be NO REFUND. Most airfares are non-refundable from date
of purchase.
CANCELLATION INSURANCE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED
Cancellation insurance will protect you from loss of monies from
cancellation penalties due to unexpected illness. Insurance must be
purchased within 14 days of deposit. (Medical exam required by MD prior
to cancellation.)

ACCREDITATION
This program has been approved for up to 19 hours of continuing
education credit by the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
SEMINAR TUITION
Tuition received on or before September 1, 2011 is $695. This
fee includes the Opening Reception Wednesday evening and
complimentary breakfast on mornings before lectures. There is a $50
non-refundable deposit. After September 1st, the full registration fee
is $795. We will limit enrollment to the first 150 applicants.
MEETING CANCELLATION POLICY
A tuition refund of the course registration fee, minus the $50 deposit,
will be made provided notice is received in writing or by telephone
followed up by a letter on or before OCTOBER 31, 2011. Because we
are committed to costs, we are unable to refund for any reason after
OCTOBER 31, 2011. Cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.
BUSINESS PRACTICE SESSION
Jon Klingborg, DVM, is a 1992 graduate of UC Davis and a private
practitioner in California. He is the youngest president of the
California Veterinary Medical Association and a frequent speaker on
issues of animal welfare and the practice act. His new book, published
by AAHA and due out this fall, is “The Practical Guide to Exam Room
Communication for Veterinarians.” Jon will speak on “How to Line
Them Up Around the Block,” using communication to increase client
satisfaction, compliance and practice revenue, “When Good Cases go
Bad,” talking with clients in crisis in a way that won’t send you over the
edge, and “Hawk Owl, Dog or Kitten? - Decoding a Client’s Personality”,
a primer on how understanding the client’s decision making will
elevate you to the next level of practice success.
