Campus is close-knit family. Cost sets TCC apart. Very affordable. Small class sizes. One-on-one learning environment. Open door policy. Diversity of student body. Quality of faculty (creative/innovative/student oriented). Community access to the college. Student outcomes. Tuition cost. Class sizes. NEGATIVE So much going on, can’t keep up. Email full and can’t work over. Overwhelmed with student time to process changes. How about a raise above inflation rate sometime? Students leaving because they can’t afford books or tuition. Driving around. Need assistant to VP of JDS – investigate due process. 1 Feel cannot criticize. Must be on the bandwagon Slow to accept new ideas. Departments sometimes are not clear on their responsibilities. Continued efforts to improve student success. Better teamwork for advisement. Still viewed as junior college and as less than a university by some. Community supports TCC financially. How can we better give back to the community? Some view TCC as less than a university. Need cultural (teens, seniors) and language classes (Span.) for employees. Incentives for the effort to stay in contact/in tune with different group. Some see TCC as less than a university. Reward employees for hard work so that the front line support staff treat all students with respect and give them their undivided attention even during busy times of year. TCC IN 2015 Better parking. Every student and every employee has a clear picture of what each department/person in TCC does. Community service. More student involvement/pride in their campus in TCC. More student organizations. Athletic teams at TCC to draw students to college teams could unify campuses. WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU ARE DOING IN THIS IDEAL FUTURE? Working with an assistant director, which would give me more time to brainstorm and dream about ways to deliver student services. Don’t panic. Counseling, with respect. Articulate. Students who can stand up for their rights. Empowered to demand wages. Whatever it takes. Instrumental in providing public transportation to NW. Opening opportunities for the community I serve. Facilitating between students and the college environment. Communicating. Ombudsman. Person to facilitate and advocate for students. I’m meeting with others on these goals by serving on campus and district committees. Play significant role in getting students into college through awareness/promotion/scholarships. Making a difference in the lives of those who did not see college in their future. 5
