New Tutors Needed Training Announced
Training sessions for new tutors will be held June 2 and
June 12 at the LVCV Eau Claire office. Anyone interested
should send their name, address, email, and phone to
Cheryl Sutter at csutter@lvcv.org or 7158340429.
To recruit volunteers, LVCV enjoyed greeting potential
tutors at its booth (pictured above) on April 22, 2015, as
part of the 2nd Annual Volunteer Expo at Hobbs Ice Arena
in Eau Claire. Sponsored by Chippewa Valley Volunteer
Coordinators, we showcased our services and need for
tutors. Special thanks go to tutors Patrice Taft, Robb
Jirschele, and Cheryl Sandoval for hosting the table and
talking with potential tutors. Jefferson Awards Banquet
On April 2, Literacy Volunteers tutor Jim McConnell was
recognized at the Jefferson Awards Annual Banquet. Jim
was one of 12 honorees who received the award this past
year. As pictured above, joining Jim at the banquet were
LVCV staff members Bess Arneson (left) and Louise
Bentley (right). The Jefferson Awards Foundation was founded in 1972 to
nationally recognize and encourage outstanding
community and public service. Locally, this event is
sponsored by WQOW TV 18, Marshfield Clinic, Feed My
People Food Bank, and the United Way of the Greater
Chippewa Valley. Congratulations again to Jim for being recognized for your
outstanding volunteerism by giving your time, talents, and
resources to help Literacy Volunteers students and our
community.
Naotou Lor Becomes Forklift Certified

forklift maintenance, safety, and operation, Naotou Lor
successfully completed his driving experience at Career

to Naotou! Our thanks go out to Deb Christopherson for her tutoring
and experience that she brought to their study sessions
and to Eric Giardina of CDC for his guided driving
instruction.
