“Thoughts of a Middle
School Student”
I lost my pencil,
my backpack ripped;
Slept through my alarm,
and sidewalk?
Tripped!
My shoes don’t match,
Forgot my lunch,
Dog ate my papers,
thanks a bunch.
My hair’s a mess,
fell in the mud.
It’s drizzling now,
and missed the bus.
The sun is hiding,
the rain— it pours!
Will I make it?
Not too sure.
Got to school, but was
marked late;
There goes my attendance, and at this rate
I’ll end up with my grades
so low!
These halls are big, where
should I go?
But…
I like my teachers, I like
my class;
language arts, science,
math,
history, language, and
P.E.,
This year started okay for

to the start of the pencil part
2. Line up the tape and the pencil

There are
more cell

world than
there are
toothbrushes.
Manholes are circular because they’re the only shape
that won’t fall through when
turned on its side.
Supplies: Journal, Chalkboard
Paint, Paintbrush, scrap paper
Steps:
1. Lay the scrap paper over
your working area so
you don’t get paint on
the table.
2. Paint over the areas of the
composition notebook

3. Wait until dry
4. Test out with some chalk
and decorate!
Now you can doodle over and
over again when you get bored!
If you yelled for 8 years, 7

would have produced

Go and squeeze a tennis ball. That’s
approximately how hard it is for your

FALL FASHION
Hey guys, and welcome back to the
Fashion Column! Fall is a
very important
part of the year
for fashion.
New York
Spring Fashion
Week went
from September 9th to the
17th and showcased the most prestigious designers in
fashion. The Milan Fashion Week followed from the 23rd to the 29th, along
with various other fashion weeks scattered around the world, including the
one in Paris, will start soon.
Fall is also the time that the weather
starts changing, which means more
layers, longer sleeves, and the preparation for the winter wardrobe.
Timeless trends for fall include
sweaters, leggings, ankle boots,
flats, scarves, skinny jeans, and
cardigans made of flowy fabric.
Sweaters aren’t as heavy now as
they are in winter, but pairing
them with your favorite leggings or jeans
and adding cute jewelry and boots will
make your look ready for anything. Cardigans can be layered over tank tops or
short sleeves for warmer weather and
long sleeves for those colder days.

Delicious Waffles!
These waffles are not just delicious, but they
will keep you energized for your game!
Ingredients:
1 cup whole-wheat flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 cup unsalted pecans
2 large eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups fat free (skim) milk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Directions:
1. Preheat waffle iron
2. Combine flour, oats, baking powder, sugar
and pecans in a large bowl.
3. Combine egg yolks, milk and vegetable oil in
a separate bowl and mix well.
4. Add liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and
stir together. Do not over mix; mixture should be
a bit lumpy.
5. Whip egg whites to medium peaks. Gently
fold egg whites into batter.
6. Pour batter into preheated waffle iron and
cook until the waffle iron light signals it's done.
(A waffle is perfect when it is crisp and wellbrowned on the outside and moist, light, airy
and fluffy inside.)
7. Add fresh fruit and a light dusting of powdered sugar to each waffle and serve!
