Highlights of the President’s Daily Activities Tuesday, November 25, 2014 President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, this morning, participated in programs marking the official opening of a 100-bed Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) built and will be operated by a medical contingent of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The ETU is situated at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville. The ETU is to become operational next week. Gracing the occasion was the Vice Minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the PRC, Cui Li, who headed the delegation from China and the DirectorGeneral of Health Department, General Logistics Department of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Ren Guoquan, deputy head of the Chinese delegation. They both spoke at the program. Later in the afternoon, President Sirleaf and key officials of the Liberian Government held a bilateral meeting with the visiting Chinese delegation led by the Vice Minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, Cui Li. The bilateral discussions centered on greater partnership in the areas of education, health, agriculture, and the private sector. Though it reflected not only on all the things both countries have accomplished, but the potential of what additional cooperation and partnership can be done together. Members of the Chinese delegation included: the Vice Minister of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) of the PRC, Cui Li, who headed the delegation; Director of the Health Department of General Logistics Department of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Ren Guoquan; Deputy Director-General of the Department of African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PRC, Wang Shiting; Director-General of Comprehensive Bureau, the Health Department of General Logisitcs Department of the PLA, Xu Qingeng; and Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation, NHFPC, Wang Liji. Others are; Director of Foreign Affairs Office, the Health Department of General Logistics Department of the PLA, Li Rui; Director, Health Emergency Response Office, NHFPC, Wu Jing; Deputy Director, Department of African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zhou Kangning; and the Third Secretary, Department of African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Ming.
