According to Chrystyna Chymera, the Trust’s Marketing Manager, White Europeans in the UK have around a 90% chance of finding a donor whilst BME patients only find a match in 40% of cases. COMING UP Last term MA Marketing Communications students got the opportunity to help South African based social enterprise Natural Balance develop a communications strategy for the UK market. Their Wonderbag product is a foam-filled bag that enables meals to be cooked using far less fuel. For each bag sold in the UK, another one is given to a family in the developing world, helping to alleviate poverty, reduce time and money spent on fuel and so help children attend school. The student team producing the best plan will present to the Wonderbag UK Marketing Manager in March. Once again, final year undergraduates following the Direct, Interactive and Digital Marketing course will be entering the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM) student competition. They have a lot to live up to as twice before Greenwich students have been runners up and one took the top prize. PUBLICATIONS Not quite a year on from publication and the new book Events Management by Charles Bladen, James Kennell, Emma Abson and Nick Wilde is now the second bestselling book in the 400 strong Routledge Sport and Leisure section and the publisher is now keen to commission the second edition. AND MORE EVENTS MANAGEMENT SUCCESS . The University of Greenwich has been chosen by the International Association of Conference Centres (www.iacconline.org) to be its partner institution in Europe. The IACC’s cooperation with Greenwich is, in part, based on the association’s recognition of the work of MET Senior Lecturers Rob Davidson (below centre) and Nick Wilde in developing an innovative new course in Event Venue Management. As a result six students on the MA Events Management programme were guests at the IACC Europe Conference in near Twickenham where Rob Davidson gave a keynote presentation. Future joint projects will include research into the education and training needs of conference centre managers.
