Film clip 4 – Basement Fire
The film shows a firefighting operation against a basement fire based on a normal Swedish crew of 1
+4 (one officer and four firefighters). The Incident Commander carries out an initial risk analysis and
decides to cool the combustion gases in the basement with the cutting extinguisher in about 50
seconds. After that the lance operator makes a hole to exhaust the gases, by breaking the basement
window, he then joins the other firefighters preparing for a BA operation. Before going in with
firefighters they ventilate overpressure and push away the now cooled combustion gases and smoke.
BA firefighters can now enter into a relatively safe environment.
