McAfee VirusScan and AntiSpyware Enterprise (VSE)
McAfee Security Quickstart Scope Definition Guidelines
McAfee® VirusScan® Enterprise (VSE) combines antivirus and antispyware technologies to stop and remove malicious
software. It also extends coverage to new security risks and reduces the cost of responding to outbreaks with the industry’s
lowest impact on system performance. With VSE, you get maximum defense against malware, proactive protection from
attacks, and easy, centralized management.
New Installation: 1 X MD-QS-SMB-4HR*

A McAfee Subject Matter Expert (SME) will remotely configure
and deploy VSE based on McAfee best practices.
• Review server and software requirements
• Install and Configure VSE from the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator®
(McAfee ePO™) server:
–– Install the VSE extension
–– Install license
–– Add the VSE deployment package to the McAfee ePO repository
–– Deploy and enable the VSE agent to endpoints (up to five)*
–– Create VSE policies based on your environment (up to five)*
• Test the VSE policies to verify they are working properly •

Upgrading: 1 X MD-QS-SMB-4HR*

The McAfee SME will perform the following tasks:
• Review server and software requirements
• Upgrade and configure VSE from the McAfee ePO server:
–– Export current VSE policies
–– Install the latest VSE extension
–– Update the VSE license
–– Add the latest VSE deployment package to the McAfee ePO
repository
–– Install and enable the new VSE agent on endpoints (up to five)*
–– Import and modify VSE policies (up to five)*
• Test the VSE policies to verify proper operation
Optimization: 1 X MD-QS-SMB-4HR*
The McAfee SME will perform the following tasks:
• Verify the VSE software functions as expected
• VSE features:
–– Real-time malware blocking
–– Simultaneously blocks various threats
–– System scanning and monitoring
VSE framework:
–– Virus detection
–– Virus cleaning
VSE categories:
–– Viruses
–– Worms
–– Spyware
–– Bots
–– Trojans
–– Buffer overflow
–– Blended attack
Review current VSE policies for compliance with McAfee best
practices (up to five)*
Validate VSE policy assignment functionality
Confirm availability of VSE queries and dashboards
Knowledge Transfer: 1X MD-QS-SMB-4HR*
The McAfee SME will perform the following tasks:
• Explain the VSE features:
–– Real-time malware blocking
–– Simultaneously blocks various threats
–– System scanning and monitoring
• Explain VSE framework:
–– Virus detection
–– Virus cleaning
• Explain VSE categories:
–– Viruses
–– Worms
–– Spyware
–– Bots
–– Trojans
–– Buffer overflow
–– Blended attack
• Explain policy creation and assignment based on the previous uses
mentioned (up to five)*
• Review the available VSE queries and dashboards (up to five)*

*Configurations and deployments exceeding these numbers will require additional sessions. Each remote session lasts up to four hours.
