The Program Carole Groom introduced the speaker of the day, Umang Gupta, serial entrepreneur and current CEO of Keynote Systems Umang is a down to earth folksy kind of guy and ; knew half the people in the room In initially he and no entrepreneurial ambitions, but that was when he was in the Midwest; coming to Silicon Valley changed all that. He felt the tug of mother India, but two loves love kept him here: wife Ruth and the heady atmosphere of Silicon Valley Interesting sidenote: he wrote 1st business plan for Oracle it was still called Relational Software and probably before Larry had a yacht. We also learned that Keynote provides information on website performance. He left us with two lessons 1. Technology is only a ticket to the game, not the game itself. Being 1st to market is only one part; you need a real organization to survive. 2. Your company is not your destiny. Companies come and go. His short talk, was followed by a lengthy and thoughtful Q&A session. A donation to Samaritan House was made in his name. …………………………………………Lance Huntley Continuing his mission to misspell every member’s name at least once this year.
