capricorn AUTOMOTIVE have been manufacturing and supplying Porsche owners,
tuners and racers from the inception of our motorsport programme and it is in this
harsh proving ground we have built the reputation for our parts.
capricorn AUTOMOTIVE‘s range includes performance pistons, water cooled
liners and air cooled barrels for modern and historic Porsche racing and street car
engines.
Air cooled barrels manufactured from high strength forged aluminium have
nickel ceramic bore coating. Water cooled cylinder liners made in steel, aluminium
and MMC. capricorns nickel ceramic bore coating and wet liner conversions in
standard or big bore options complete our comprehensive portfolio. High strength
forged aluminium pistons complete the sets at standard bore sizes or various big
bore options.

928, 944, 968, 996, 997 (until 09/2008)
capricorn offers nickel ceramic bore plating and wet liner conversions in standard
and various big bore options. Due to the design change from open to closed deck
engine blocks, the model series 997 blocks manufactured up to September 2008
can be machined.
capricorn’s cylinder block plating process can restore these engines. Reducing
piston to bore clearance to within factory specification, improving sealing and restoring lost power by reducing piston slap and blow-by of the combustion charge.
capricorns wet liner conversions can replace cracked cylinder towers and allow
prodigious power output. High strength liners will allow over bores, huge boost
pressure and reduced friction. Nickel ceramic bore plating will allow far greater
RPM for longer periods of time due to better wear resistance. The dry liner conversions can bring heavily scuffed or gouged bores back to the same high specification by boring the block and inserting bespoke plated aluminium liners.

Our product and service range is divided into mechanical engine and composites
components. The mechanical division develops and produces crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, cylinder liners and gears. Furthermore we have the capability to machine engine blocks and apply nickel ceramic and plasma moly coatings
to engine block bores.
