DEVELOPMENT AND INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION OF MAGNETIC LINER OF NANO
STEEL
ABSTRACT
The development and industrial application of Magnetic liner has been invented decades. Initially Swedish
Skega company invented the rubber magnetic liner, and then the Chinese invent the metal magnetic liner,
the two liners’ development and industrial application has its specific process conditions, mainly used in
the ball mills which treat the ores with magnetic minerals in the second section and three sections of
regrinding, the grinding media is mainly below Φ60mm ball or equivalent of steel forging. But with the
development of mineral resources, the SAG and ball mill has been used in the ore crushing and grinding.
The ball mill diameter is bigger and bigger, and the ball diameter has been to 80mm. Especially in nonferrous metal mines without magnetic minerals, the application of magnetic liner has been limited. Under
the guidance of magnetic circuit theory and the theory of new materials, HMR GROUP LIMITED studied
the magnetic liner’s structure, material and magnetic circuit carefully, then invented the nano steel
magnetic liner(NSML). NSML has been successfully used in Φ5.5*6.5m ball mill of Erdenet in Mongolia,
ball diameter up to 80mm, service life is up to nearly 24 months, and prolonged to 3 times than the original
Mn steel metal liner.
