Introduction
All praise is for Allah, we praise Him, seek His Assistance, we ask for His Forgiveness, and
we repent to only Him. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and from the
evil of our actions. Whoever Allah guides there is none who can misguide him and whoever
He misguides there is none who can guide him back. I bear witness that there is nothing
worthy of worship except for Allah, He has no partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad
is His Servant and His Messenger .
To proceed: There is no rectification for the servants, no success, no safety, no good life, no
happiness in either of the two abodes, no salvation from the wretchedness of this life and
from the punishment of the hereafter except by knowledge of the first obligations that have
been placed upon them in addition to acting in accordance with them.
It is the affair that Allah the Mighty & Majestic created them for and it is that which He took
the covenant from them. By it Haaqqah (the Reality) will be actualized and the Waaqi’ah (the
Day of Resurrection) will come about. Due to His Great Quality the scales will be toppled
and the pages will be turned and there will be (on that Day) wretchedness and happiness.
Based on this the rays of light will be divided and whosoever Allah has not given light then
he will not have light, and this affair is knowledge of Allah the Mighty & Majestic by way of
His Oneness in Worship, and by His Lordship, by His Names and Attributes as well as His
Tawheed (Oneness) in all of that. And by knowing what nullifies it or decreases it from the
Major portion of Shirk and the Minor portion. And by knowing the Major form of Kufr
(Disbelief) and the Minor form. And by knowing the Nifaaq (the Hypocrisy) of Belief and of
Action. And by knowing about the Taaghoot (the false deities) and disbelieving in it while
firmly believing in Allah the Most High.
The people of Najd and others before the Da’wah (the Islamic Call) of al-Imaam, al-Mujaddid
(the Reviver of the Islamic sciences), Shaykh-ul-Islaam, Muhammad bin ‘Abdil-Wahhaab, may
Allah Most High have mercy upon him, were ignorant of this mighty pillar and great
principle. The foremost fundamental of all of the Islamic fundamentals, the forefront of the
Islamic sciences, I mean by this the knowledge of Tawheed-ul-Uloohiyyah (The Oneness of
worshipping only Allah).
This matter and significance worsened and the waves of disbelief and idolatry clashed with
this Ummah (the Islamic nation). The ways of the rightly guided predecessors was eradicated
and the innovations of the Rafidhah and the issues of ash-Shirk began to surface. Until Allah
Most High desired to eradicate these forms of oppressions and uncover the innovations and
various forms of misguidance. And expel the desires and various forms of ignorance. And
affirm the glad tidings of the Messenger  of the Lord of the earth and the heavens that
states:

 ‫ﻳ‬ ‫ﻦ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﺔ‬ ‫ﻨ‬‫ﺳ‬ ‫ﺔ‬ ‫ﻣﹶﺌ‬ ‫ﺱ ﹸﻛﻞﱢ‬

“Indeed Allah will send to this Ummah at the beginning of every hundredth year one who will revive the
religion.”1
By the hands of the one who revived this rank, who was bestowed with an abundance of
benefit and favor, I mean by this ash-Shaykh al-Imaam, the one who followed the noble
predecessors, the adherent to the guidance of the head of all living beings, the protector of
Allah’s Religion in every place, Shaykh-ul-Islaam, Muhammad bin ‘Abdil-Wahhaab, may Allah
make his return to Him good and multiply his reward.
He would call to Allah night and day, privately and in public, establishing the Command of
Allah and calling to Him without favoring anyone or by being cajoled by the people. The call
magnified upon many who refused arrogantly and that did not multiply from the Command
of Allah until Allah ordained for it assistants and helpers who raised its banner and its
knowledge until it spread profusely amongst the places of sunrise and the places of sunset.
He, May Allah Most High’s mercy be upon him, authored many works concerning the
Tawheed of the Prophets and Messengers while refuting the idolaters who opposed it. From
the foremost (of his works) is Kitaab-ut-Tawheed which is unique in its meaning a treatise that
has not been preceded in its composition or been authored by anyone after it as well as alUsool-uth-Thalaathah and Kashf-ush-Shubuhaat and other beneficial works.
Due to the importance of Tawheed and its great significance some of my brothers in Islam
have requested that I compose a summarized text concerning what is obligatory to believe
in, to act upon, and what should be studied. Something easy for the beginning student of
Knowledge to memorize but that the advanced and desirous student of Knowledge will find
indispensable in understanding. My Lord the Blessed and Most High has facilitated that for
me. The Glorified causes success and has inspired me to compile an editorial of this Imam
and his grandchildren and others. All praise is for Allah for that as well as other blessings
that I am not able to count. I have named this al-Waajibat-ul-Mutahattamaat al-Ma’rifah ‘alaa
kulli Muslim wa Muslimah (the Decreed Obligations that every Muslim man and woman must
know).
I ask Allah Most High to make it purely for His Noble Face and that He benefits by it in
one’s lifetime and after one’s death and every person that will read it, hear it, or glance over
it, indeed He is the Protector of that, the One Who is capable of it.

Three Principles that are Obligatory for every Muslim
Man and Woman to k now Them
It is the servant’s comprehension of his Lord, his Religion, and his Prophet who is
Muhammad . Therefore when asked, “Who is your Lord?” Say, “My Lord is Allah, the
One Who nurtured me and all of creation by His Blessings, He is my only focal point of
worship to which there is no other besides Him.
And when asked, “What is your religion?” Say, “My Religion is Islam which means to
submit to Allah by way of Tawheed (worshipping Him alone), to submit to His Obedience,
and to free oneself from of Shirk (polytheism) and its tenants.
And when asked, “Who is your prophet?” Say, “My Prophet is Muhammad the son of
‘Abdullah the son of ‘Abdul-Mutallib the son of Haashim, and Haashim was from the
Quraysh and the Quraysh were from the Arabs. The Arabs were from the descendants of
Ishmael the son of Abraham the close companion of Allah, May the best of prayers and
complete peace be upon our Prophets. He (Muhammad) was sent to warn from Shirk
(polytheism) and to invite to Tawheed (to worship Allah alone).
The Principle of the Religion and its foundation consists of two issues:
The first is the command to worship Allah alone Who has no partners to incite it, to have
love and loyalty for it, and to declare the one who abandons it a disbeliever.
The second is to warn from Shirk (polytheism) in worshipping Allah, to deal harshly with the
one who does it, to feel enmity because of it, and to declare the one who acts upon it as a
disbeliever.


The Conditions of Laa Ilaha Illa Allah
‫ﺎﺗﹰﺎ‬‫ﻭ ﹺﺇﹾﺛﺒ‬ ‫ﻧﻔﹾﻴﹰﺎ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﺎﻫ‬‫ﻌﻨ‬ ‫ﻤ‬ ‫ﻢ ﹺﺑ‬ ‫ﻌ ﹾﻠ‬ ‫ ﺍﹾﻟ‬: ‫ ﹸﻝ‬‫ﺍﹾﻟﹶﺄﻭ‬
One: al-‘Ilm (knowledge) with the meaning of negation and affirmation.
‫ﺐ‬
‫ﻳ ﹺ‬‫ﺮ‬ ‫ﻭ ﺍﻟ‬ ‫ﻚ‬
 ‫ﺸ‬

Two: al-Yaqeen (certainty) which is the completeness of knowledge by it, it negates doubt
and conjecture.

‫ﺧ ﹶ‬ ‫ ﺍﹾﻟﹺﺈ‬: ‫ﻟﺚﹸ‬‫ﺍﻟﺜﱠﺎ‬
Three: al-Ikhlaas (sincerity) which negates Shirk (polytheism).
‫ﺏ‬
‫ﺬ ﹺ‬ ‫ﻟ ﹾﻠ ﹶﻜ‬ ‫ﻲ‬ ‫ﻓ‬‫ﺎ‬‫ﻤﻨ‬ ‫ﻕ ﺍﹾﻟ‬
 ‫ﺪ‬ ‫ ﺍﻟﺼ‬: ‫ﺍﹺﺑﻊ‬‫ﺍﻟﺮ‬
Four: as-Sidq (honesty) which negates falsehood, it prevents falling into hypocrisy.
‫ﻚ‬
 ‫ﻟ‬‫ﺭ ﹺﺑ ﹶﺬ‬ ‫ﻭ‬‫ﺴﺮ‬
 ‫ﻭ ﺍﻟ‬ ، ‫ﻪ‬ ‫ﻴ‬‫ﻋﹶﻠ‬ ‫ﺖ‬
 ‫ﺩﱠﻟ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻟﻤ‬‫ﻭ‬ ، ‫ﺔ‬ ‫ﻤ‬ ‫ﻠ‬‫ﻩ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻜ‬ ‫ﺬ‬ ‫ﻬ‬ ‫ﻟ‬ ‫ﺒﺔﹸ‬‫ﺤ‬
 ‫ﻤ‬ ‫ ﺍﹾﻟ‬: ‫ﻣﺲ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﺍﹾﻟﺨ‬
Five: al-Mahabbah (love) of this word (Laa Ilaha Illa Allah) and what proves it and to be
content with that.
‫ﻪ‬ ‫ﺗ‬‫ﺎ‬‫ﺮﺿ‬ ‫ﻤ‬ ‫ﻟ‬ ‫ﻭ ﹶﻃﻠﹶﺒﹰﺎ‬ ، ‫ﷲ‬
ِ ‫ﺧﻼﹶﺻﹰﺎ‬ ‫ ﹺﺇ‬، ‫ﺒﺔﹸ‬‫ﺍ ﹺﺟ‬‫ﺎ ﹸﻝ ﺍﹾﻟﻮ‬‫ﻋﻤ‬ ‫ ﺍﹾﻟﹶﺄ‬: ‫ﻲ‬ ‫ﻫ‬ ‫ﻭ‬ ، ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻗﻬ‬‫ﻘﹸﻮ‬‫ﻟﺤ‬ ‫ﺩ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻘﻴ‬ ‫ﻧ‬‫ ﺍﹾﻟﹺﺈ‬: ‫ﺩﺱ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﺍﻟﺴ‬
Six: al-Inqiyaad (submission) to its rights and it is to do the obligatory deeds sincerely for
Allah seeking His Pleasure.
‫ﺩ‬ ‫ﺮ‬ ‫ﻠ‬‫ﻲ ﻟ‬ ‫ﻓ‬‫ﺎ‬‫ﻤﻨ‬ ‫ﻮ ﹸﻝ ﺍﹾﻟ‬‫ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹸﻘﺒ‬: ‫ﺎﹺﺑﻊ‬‫ﺍﻟﺴ‬
Seven: al-Qubool (acceptance) which negates rejection.
‫ﻢ‬ ‫ﺳﻠﱠ‬ ‫ﻭ‬ ‫ﻪ‬ ‫ﻴ‬‫ﻋﹶﻠ‬ ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﺻﻠﱠﻰ ﺍ‬
 ‫ﷲ‬

Evidences that these conditions are from the Book of Allah Most High and the
Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him
The evidence concerning al-‘Ilm (knowledge) is His Statement:
⟨ ö∩⊇®∪ ª!$# ωÎ) tμ≈s9Î) Iω …çμ¯Ρr& óΟn=÷æ$$sù ®
“Know that there is nothing worthy or worship except for Allah.”2
And His Statement:
⟨ ∩∇∉∪ Èd,ysø9$$Î/ y‰Íκy− ⎯tΒ ωÎ) ®
“…Except for the one who testifies to the truth.”3
This “truth” is referring to Laa Ilaha Illa Allah.

“…And they know”
What is in their hearts which is pronounced by their tongues.
And from the Sunnah is the established narration in the Saheeh from ‘Uthmaan, Allah be
pleased with him, who said that the Messenger of Allah  said:
‫ﻨ ﹶﺔ‬‫ﺠ‬
 ‫ﺧ ﹶﻞ ﺍﹾﻟ‬ ‫ﺩ‬ ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﻪ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ ﺍ‬ ‫ﻪ ﹶﻻ ﹺﺇﹶﻟ‬ ‫ ﹶﺃﻧ‬‫ﻌﹶﻠﻢ‬ ‫ﻳ‬ ‫ﻮ‬ ‫ﻭﻫ‬ ‫ﺕ‬
 ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻦ ﻣ‬ ‫ﻣ‬
“Whoever dies knowing that there is nothing worthy or worship except for Allah will enter paradise.”4
And the evidence concerning al-Yaqeen (certainty) is His Statement:

“The believers are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger then they do not
doubt it and they strive with their wealth and with their souls in the path of Allah
they are those who believe with certainty.”5
So it is stipulated concerning the honesty of their faith in Allah and His Messenger that they
did not falter meaning that they did not cast doubts. As for the one who doubts then he is
from the Munaafiqoon (the Hypocrites).
And from the Sunnah is the established narration in the Saheeh from Aboo Hurayrah  that
he mentioned the Messenger of Allah  saying:
‫ﻨ ﹶﺔ‬‫ﺠ‬
 ‫ﺧ ﹶﻞ ﺍﹾﻟ‬ ‫ﺩ‬ ‫ﺎ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ‬‫ﻴ ﹺﻬﻤ‬‫ﻙ ﻓ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ ﺷ‬‫ﻴﺮ‬‫ﺪ ﹶﻏ‬ ‫ﺒ‬‫ﻋ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﷲ ﹺﺑ ﹺﻬﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻳ ﹾﻠﻘﹶﻰ ﺍ‬ ‫ ﹶﻻ‬، ‫ﷲ‬
ِ ‫ﻮ ﹸﻝ ﺍ‬‫ﺭﺳ‬ ‫ﻲ‬‫ﻭﹶﺃﻧ‬ ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﻪ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ ﺍ‬ ‫ﺪ ﹶﺃ ﹾﻥ ﹶﻻ ﹺﺇﹶﻟ‬ ‫ﻬ‬ ‫ﺷ‬ ‫ﹶﺃ‬
“I bear witness that nothing has the right to be worshipped except for Allah and that I am the Messenger of
Allah not holding Allah by them both to be without doubt in the two testimonies except that he will enter
paradise”.6
And in another narrative:
‫ﺔ‬ ‫ﻨ‬‫ﺠ‬
 ‫ﻋ ﹺﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ‬ ‫ﺠﺐ‬
‫ﺤ‬
 ‫ﻙ ﹶﻓﻴ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ ﺷ‬‫ﻴﺮ‬‫ﺪ ﹶﻏ‬ ‫ﺒ‬‫ﻋ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﷲ ﹺﺑ ﹺﻬﻤ‬
َ ‫ﻳ ﹾﻠﻘﹶﻰ ﺍ‬ ‫ﹶﻻ‬
“Not holding by Allah by them both without doubt that he will be covered in the paradise.”7
And also the long narration of Aboo Hurayrah:
‫ﺔ‬ ‫ﻨ‬‫ﺠ‬
 ‫ ﹺﺑِﺎﹾﻟ‬‫ﺮﻩ‬ ‫ﺸ‬
 ‫ﺒ‬‫ﻪ ﹶﻓ‬ ‫ﻦ ﹶﻗ ﹾﻠﹺﺒ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻨﹰﺎ ﹺﺑﻬ‬‫ﻴﻘ‬‫ﺘ‬‫ﺴ‬
 ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﻪ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ ﺍ‬ ‫ ﹶﺃ ﹾﻥ ﹶﻻ ﹺﺇﹶﻟ‬‫ﻬﺪ‬ ‫ﺸ‬
 ‫ﻳ‬ ‫ﻂ‬
 ‫ﺋ‬‫ﺎ‬‫ﻫﺬﹶﺍ ﺍﹾﻟﺤ‬ ‫ﺍ ِﺀ‬‫ﻭﺭ‬ ‫ﻦ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﺖ‬
 ‫ﻴ‬‫ﻦ ﹶﻟﻘ‬ ‫ﻣ‬
“Whoever I meet behind this wall testifying that there is nothing worthy or worship except for Allah with full
conviction of it in his heart then give him the glad tidings of paradise.”8
And the evidence concerning al-Ikhlaas (sincerity) is His Statement:

“Is not the pure religion to Allah?” 9
And His Statement:

The Decreed Obligation That Every Muslim Man & Women Must Know
“They were only ordered to worship Allah sincerely for Him and worship none but
Him Alone.”10
And from the Sunnah is the established narration in the Saheeh from Aboo Hurayrah from
the Prophet :
‫ﻪ‬ ‫ﺴ‬
ِ ‫ﻧ ﹾﻔ‬ ‫ﻦ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﻭ‬ ‫ﹶﺃ‬- ‫ﻪ‬ ‫ﻦ ﹶﻗ ﹾﻠﹺﺒ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﺼﹰﺎ‬‫ﺎﻟ‬‫ﷲ ﺧ‬
ُ ‫ﻪ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ ﺍ‬ ‫ﻦ ﻗﹶﺎ ﹶﻝ ﹶﻻ ﹺﺇﹶﻟ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﻲ‬‫ﻋﺘ‬ ‫ﺸﻔﹶﺎ‬
 ‫ﺱ ﹺﺑ‬
‫ﺎ ﹺ‬‫ ﺍﻟﻨ‬‫ﻌﺪ‬ ‫ﺳ‬ ‫ﹶﺃ‬
“The happiest people to receive my intercession are those who said Laa Ilaha Illa Allah (there is nothing
worthy of worship except for Allah) sincerely from one’s heart or soul.”11
And in the Saheeh from ‘Utbaan bin Maalik  from the Prophet  who said:
‫ﺟﻞﱠ‬ ‫ﻭ‬ ‫ﺰ‬ ‫ﻋ‬ ‫ﷲ‬
ِ ‫ﻪ ﺍ‬ ‫ﺟ‬ ‫ﻭ‬ ‫ﻚ‬
 ‫ﻟ‬‫ﻲ ﹺﺑ ﹶﺬ‬‫ﺘﻐ‬‫ﺒ‬‫ﻳ‬ ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﻪ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ ﺍ‬ ‫ﻦ ﻗﹶﺎ ﹶﻝ ﹶﻻ ﹺﺇﹶﻟ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﺎ ﹺﺭ‬‫ﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻟﻨ‬ ‫ﻡ‬ ‫ﺮ‬ ‫ﺣ‬ ‫ﷲ‬
َ ‫ﹺﺇﻥﱠ ﺍ‬
“Indeed Allah has forbidden the hellfire upon the one who says Laa Ilaha Illa Allah (there is nothing
worthy of worship except for Allah) seeking by that the Face of Allah the Mighty and Majestic.”12
And from an-Nisaa’ee in (his book) al-Yawm wal-Laylah from the narration of two of the
companions from the Prophet :
‫ﻲ ٍﺀ‬ ‫ﺷ‬ ‫ﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﹸﻛﻞﱢ‬ ‫ﻮ‬ ‫ﻫ‬ ‫ﻭ‬ ، ‫ﺪ‬ ‫ﻤ‬ ‫ﺤ‬
 ‫ ﺍﹾﻟ‬‫ﻭﹶﻟﻪ‬ ، ‫ﻚ‬
 ‫ﻤ ﹾﻠ‬ ‫ ﺍﹾﻟ‬‫ ﹶﻟﻪ‬، ‫ﻚ ﹶﻟﻪ‬

ُ ‫ﻖ ﺍ‬ ‫ﺘ‬‫ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ ﹶﻓ‬. . . ‫ﻪ‬ ‫ﻧ‬‫ﺎ‬‫ﻟﺴ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ ﹺﺑﻬ‬‫ﻕ‬‫ﺼﺪ‬

ُ ‫ﻪ ﺍ‬ ‫ﻴ‬‫ﺮ ﹺﺇﹶﻟ‬ ‫ﻧ ﹶﻈ‬ ‫ﺪ‬ ‫ﺒ‬‫ﻌ‬ ‫ﻟ‬ ‫ﺣﻖ‬ ‫ﻭ‬ ،‫ﺭﺽﹺ‬ ‫ﻫ ﹺﻞ ﺍﹾﻟﹶﺄ‬ ‫ﻦ ﹶﺃ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻠﻬ‬‫ﺋ‬‫ﻗﹶﺎ‬
“Whoever says Laa Ilaha Illa Allah Wahdahu Laa Shareeka Lah lahul-Mulk wa lahul-Hamd wa
Huwa ‘alaa kulli shayin Qadeer13 sincerely in one’s heart affirming what was uttered by the tongue then
Allah will tear a hole in the heavens to look at the one who said it from amongst the inhabitants of earth and
the right given to the servant is that Allah will look to him and gives him what he asks for.”14
And the evidence concerning as-Sidq (honesty) is His Statement:

al-Albaanee said in al-Jaami’u-l-Kabeer that it is strengthened from Ya’qoob bin ‘Aasim and this Ya’qoob is from the
narrators of Saheeh Muslim which Ibn Hibbaan agreed with. If the chain of narration attributed to him is authentic
then the narration is established. The chain of transmission from an-Nisaa’ee is authentic except for the one narrating
from Ya’qoob whose name is Muhammad Ibn ‘Abdillah bin Maymoon bin Muskeeyah, it is accepted by the seven as it
appears in at-Taqreeb (6051) and based on the words of al-Albaanee it is a narration that is established, and Allah
knows best.

“Alif Laam Meem. Do the people think that they will be left alone to say that they
believe and that they will not be tested? Indeed We tested those before them Allah
surely knows those who believe and He knows those who pretend.”15

“And from amongst mankind are those who say we believe in Allah and in the Last
Day but they are not really believers. They seek to deceive Allah and those who
believe but they only are deceiving themselves while not even realizing it. In their
hearts is a disease and Allah increases their disease and they will have a painful
punishment for what they pretended about.”16
And from the Sunnah is what has been established from the two Saheehs from Mu’adh bin
Jabal, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet  said:
‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ ﺍ‬‫ﻣﻪ‬ ‫ﺮ‬ ‫ﺣ‬ ‫ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ‬، ‫ﻪ‬ ‫ﻦ ﹶﻗ ﹾﻠﹺﺒ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﻗﹰﺎ‬‫ﺎﺩ‬‫ ﺻ‬، ‫ﷲ‬
ِ ‫ﻮ ﹸﻝ ﺍ‬‫ﺭﺳ‬ ‫ﺪﹰﺍ‬‫ﺤﻤ‬
 ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﻭ ﹶﺃﻥﱠ‬ ‫ﷲ‬
ُ ‫ﻪ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ ﺍ‬ ‫ ﹶﺃ ﹾﻥ ﹶﻻ ﹺﺇﹶﻟ‬‫ﻬﺪ‬ ‫ﺸ‬
 ‫ﻳ‬ ‫ﺪ‬ ‫ﺣ‬ ‫ﻦ ﹶﺃ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻣ‬
‫ﺎ ﹺﺭ‬‫ﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻟﻨ‬
“There is not one person who testifies that there is nothing worthy of worship except for Allah and that
Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger honestly within his heart except that Allah will forbid him from
the hellfire.”17
And the evidence concerning al-Mahabbah (love) is His Statement:

“And amongst mankind are those who take other than Allah as partners loving them
as they love Allah but those who believe are strict in their love to Allah (Alone).”18
And His Statement:

“O’ You who believe whoever apostates from amongst you from his religion then
Allah will bring a people whom He will love and they will love Him, being kind with
the believers and harsh upon the disbelievers, fighting in the path of Allah and not
fearing the blame of those who find fault (with others).”19
And from the Sunnah is what is established in the Saheeh from Anas, may Allah be pleased
with him who said that the Messenger of Allah  said:
‫ﻭ ﹶﺃ ﹾﻥ‬ ، ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻫﻤ‬ ‫ﺍ‬‫ﺳﻮ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻣﻤ‬ ‫ﻪ‬ ‫ﻴ‬‫ﺐ ﹺﺇﹶﻟ‬

 ‫ﻳ‬ ‫ﺮ َﺀ ﹶﻻ‬ ‫ﻤ‬ ‫ ﺍﹾﻟ‬‫ﺤﺐ‬
 ‫ﻳ‬
‫ﺎ ﹺﺭ‬‫ﻲ ﺍﻟﻨ‬‫ﻑ ﻓ‬
 ‫ ﹾﻘ ﹶﺬ‬‫ﻳ‬
“There are three of whom the sweetness of faith can be found within them they are the one whom Allah and
His Messenger are more beloved to him than anything else, the one who loves a person for the sake of Allah,
and the one who hates to return to disbelief after Allah had saved him from it just as he would hate to be
thrown in the hellfire.”20
And the evidence concerning al-Inqiyaad (submission) is based on His Statement:

“Repent to your Lord and submit to Him” 21
And His Statement:
⟨ ∩⊇⊄∈∪ Ö⎯Å¡øtèΧ uθèδuρ ¬! …çμyγô_uρ zΝn=ó™r& ô⎯£ϑÏiΒ $YΨƒÏŠ ß⎯|¡ômr& ô⎯tΒuρ ®
“And whoever perfects his religion from whomsoever has submitted himself to Allah
while doing good deeds.”22
And His Statement:
⟨ ∩⊄⊄∪ 3 4’s+øOâθø9$# Íοuρöãèø9$$Î/ y7|¡ôϑtGó™$# ωs)sù Ö⎯Å¡øtèΧ uθèδuρ «!$# ’n<Î) ÿ…çμyγô_uρ öΝÎ=ó¡ç„ ⎯tΒuρ * ®
“And whosoever submits himself to Allah and does good deeds has held onto al‘Urwah al-Wuthqaa”23
Here al-‘Urwah al-Wuthqaa means Laa Ilaha Illa Allah.
And His Statement:

“No by your Lord they will not believe until you passed judgment for them in their
disputes then they will not find in themselves harm in what you have decreed and
they submit whole heartedly.” 24
And from the Sunnah is his statement  :
‫ﻪ‬ ‫ ﹺﺑ‬‫ﺎ ﹺﺟﹾﺌﺖ‬‫ﻟﻤ‬ ‫ﻌﹰﺎ‬‫ﺗﺒ‬ ‫ﻩ‬ ‫ﺍ‬‫ﻫﻮ‬ ‫ﻳﻜﹸﻮ ﹶﻥ‬ ‫ﻰ‬‫ﺣﺘ‬ ‫ﻢ‬ ‫ﻛﹸ‬‫ﺣﺪ‬ ‫ ﹶﺃ‬‫ﻣﻦ‬ ‫ﺆ‬‫ﹶﻻ ﻳ‬
“None of you truly believe until one’s desires follow what I have brought.”
And this in fact is complete submission and its main focus.

“And likewise We did not send before you in any village one who would warn except
that its affluent would say, “Indeed we found our fathers upon a certain way and we
will continue to be upon their way.” The one warning said, “Even if I bring to you all
that which contains more guidance than what you found your father upon?” They
said, “Indeed we do not believe in what you have been sent.” Therefore We took
revenge of them so look at the consequence of those who denied.”25
And His Statement:

“Indeed they used to behave arrogantly when it was said to them Laa Ilaha Illa Allah.
They would say, “Should we leave off our gods to follow a crazy poet?”26
And from the Sunnah from what has been established in the Saheeh from Aboo Musaa, may
Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet  who said:
‫ﻴ ﹲﺔ‬‫ﻘ‬ ‫ﻧ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻨﻬ‬‫ﻣ‬ ‫ ﹶﻓﻜﹶﺎ ﹶﻥ‬، ‫ﺿﹰﺎ‬‫ﺏ ﹶﺃﺭ‬
 ‫ﺎ‬‫ﺜ ﹺﲑ ﹶﺃﺻ‬‫ﺚ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻜ‬
 ‫ﻴ‬‫ﻐ‬ ‫ﻤﹶﺜ ﹺﻞ ﺍﹾﻟ‬ ‫ﻠ ﹺﻢ ﹶﻛ‬‫ﻌ‬ ‫ﺍﹾﻟ‬‫ﻯ ﻭ‬‫ﻬﺪ‬ ‫ﻦ ﺍﹾﻟ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﻪ‬ ‫ﷲ ﹺﺑ‬

“The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the
earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in
abundance. Another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it

and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for
cultivation. And a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation. The
first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah's religion and gets benefit which Allah has revealed
through me and learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of a person who does not care for it
and does not take Allah's guidance revealed through me.”27

The Invalidators of Islam
You should know that that which invalidates Islam consists of ten invalidators:
The First is to associate partners when worshiping Allah Most High. Allah the Most High
says:
⟨ ∩⊇⊇∉∪ 4 â™!$t±o„ ⎯yϑÏ9 šÏ9≡sŒ šχρߊ $tΒ ãÏøótƒuρ ⎯ÏμÎ/ x8uô³ç„ βr& ãÏøótƒ Ÿω ©!$# ¨βÎ) ®
“Indeed Allah does not forgive that anything be associated with him but He will
forgive everything else from whoever He wishes.”28
And He says:
ô⎯ÏΒ š⎥⎫ÏϑÎ=≈©à=Ï9 $tΒuρ ( â‘$¨Ψ9$# çμ1uρù'tΒuρ sπ¨Ψyfø9$# Ïμø‹n=tã ª!$# tΠ§ym ô‰s)sù «!$$Î/ õ8Îô³ç„ ⎯tΒ …çμ¯ΡÎ) ®
⟨ ∩∠⊄∪ 9‘$|ÁΡr&
“Whoever associates partners with Allah then Allah will prohibit him from paradise
and his abode will be the hellfire. The oppressors will not find anyone to assist
them.”29
Included in this is to slaughter to other than Allah such as one who slaughters to the Jinn or
the grave.
The Second is to place mediators between oneself and Allah, supplicating to them, calling
upon them to intercede, and trusting upon them. The one who does so disbelieves by
consensus of the Muslim Scholars.
The Third is not to declare the polytheists as non-Muslim, or to doubt in their disbelief or
to affirm their beliefs, then the one who does so disbelieves.
The Fourth is whoever believes that guidance other than the Prophet  is more complete
than his guidance or that ruling by other than his is better than his rule such as the one who
prefers the rule of the Tawaagheet (the false deities) over his rule then he is a disbeliever.

The Fifth is whoever hates anything that the Messenger  brought even if he acts upon it
has in fact disbelieved.
The Sixth is whoever makes fun of anything of the religion revealed to the Messenger  or
its reward or its consequence has disbelieved. The evidence is His Statement:
⟨ ∩∉∉∪ óΟä3ÏΨ≈yϑƒÎ) y‰÷èt/ Λänöxx. ô‰s% (#ρâ‘É‹tG÷ès? Ÿω ∩∉∈∪ ⎯Ï&Î!θß™u‘uρ ⎯ÏμÏG≈tƒ#u™uρ «!$$Î/r& ö≅è% ®
“Say: Do you make fun of Allah, His Signs, and His Messengers? You do not
apologize disbelieving after having affirmed belief.” 30
The Seventh is practicing magic such as as-Sarf (changing one’s situation) and al-‘Atf (making
someone fall in love with another). Whoever practices it or is content with is has disbelieved.
The evidence is His Statement:

“They both did not teach the people until they both said, “Indeed we are a
tribulation so do not disbelieve.”31
The Eighth is to love the polytheists while assisting them against the Muslims. The evidence
is His Statement:
⟨ ∩∈⊇∪ t⎦⎫ÏϑÎ=≈©à9$# tΠöθs)ø9$# “ωôγtƒ Ÿω ©!$# ¨βÎ) 3 öΝåκ÷]ÏΒ …çμ¯ΡÎ*sù öΝä3ΖÏiΒ Νçλ°;uθtGtƒ ⎯tΒuρ ®
“Whoever loves them is indeed from them. Verily Allah does not guide a people who
are oppressive.”32
The Ninth is to believe as some of the people who leave off the Divine Legislation revealed
to Muhammad  as Khidhr left off the Divine Legislation revealed to Moses  such a one
has in fact disbelieved.

The Tenth is aversion to the Religion of Allah Most High by not learning it or acting upon
it. The evidence is His Statement:

⟨ ∩⊄⊄∪
“And who is more oppressive than the one who is reminded of his Lord’s Signs then
refrains from them? Indeed from amongst the criminals are those who are
vindictive.”33
There is no difference regarding all of these invalidators whether one is merely joking or
serious or does so out of fear except for the one who does them while hating it. All of these
are from the greatest of what is harmful and the most of what one can fall into. Therefore it
is befitting for every Muslim to warn from them and to fear them for himself. We seek
refuge in Allah from the causes of His Anger and the pain of His Consequence.


Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism) consists of three categories
‫ﺔ‬ ‫ﻴ‬‫ﻮﹺﺑ‬‫ﺮﺑ‬ ‫ﺪ ﺍﻟ‬ ‫ﻴ‬‫ﻮﺣ‬ ‫ﺗ‬ : ‫ ﹸﻝ‬‫ﺍ َﻷﻭ‬
The First is Tawheed-ur-Ruboobiyyah (The Oneness of Lordship): It was affirmed by the
disbelievers in the time of the Messenger of Allah  but it did not enter them into the fold
of Islam. So the Messenger of Allah  fought them and made their blood and property
permissible. The evidence is His Statement:

⟨ ∩⊂⊇∪ tβθà)−Gs?
“Say: Who provides from you from what is in the sky and what is on the earth and to
whom possess hearing and seeing (all of what creation says and does) and who
causes life to come forward when it was dead and causes death when one is living
and who is the one who controls the affair of everything? They will answer, “Allah”
so say to them, “Do you not then fear him?”34
And the Quranic verses concerning this are many.
‫ﺔ‬ ‫ﻴ‬‫ﻫ‬ ‫ﺪ ﺍﹾﻟﹸﺄﻟﹸﻮ‬ ‫ﻴ‬‫ﻮﺣ‬ ‫ﺗ‬ : ‫ﺍﻟﺜﱠﺎﻧﹺﻲ‬
The Second is Tawheed-ul-Uloohiyyah (The Oneness of worshipping only Allah): It is has been
preformed by the people of ancient times up until now and it consists of the servant
focusing all acts of worship for Allah, those acts such as Du’aa (supplication), Nadhr
(swearing), Nahr (sacrificing), Rajaa (placing one’s hope in Him), Khawf (fearing Him),
Tawakkul (trusting Him), Raghbah (desiring Him), Rahbah (having fear of Him), Inaabah
(turning to Him in repentance), and all of the other categories of worship that are evidenced
in the Quran.

The Third is Tawheed-udh-Dhaat wa-Asmaa was-Sifaat (The Oneness of Allah in His Essence,
Names, and Attributes): Allah the Most High says:

⟨ ∩⊆∪
“Say: He Allah is One, Allah is Independent, He does not have children nor was He
born and there is nothing comparable to Him.”35
And the Most High says:
$tΒ tβ÷ρt“ôfã‹y™ 4 ⎯ÏμÍׯ≈yϑó™r& þ’Îû šχρ߉Åsù=ムt⎦⎪Ï%©!$# (#ρâ‘sŒuρ ( $pκÍ5 çνθãã÷Š$$sù 4©o_ó¡çtø:$# â™!$oÿôœF{$# ¬!uρ ®
⟨ ∩⊇∇⊃∪ tβθè=yϑ÷ètƒ (#θçΡ%x.
“And to Allah are the best of Names so call upon Him with them and leave those
who deny His Names they will be punished for what they used to do.”36
And the Most High says:
⟨ ∩⊇⊇∪ çÅÁt7ø9$# ßìŠÏϑ¡¡9$# uθèδuρ ( Ö™ï†x« ⎯ÏμÎ=÷WÏϑx. }§øŠs9 4 ®
“There is nothing like Him and He is the All-Hearing the All-Seeing.”37

The Opposite of Tawheed (Monotheism) is Shirk (Polytheism)

 ‫ﻙ ﹶﺃ‬ ‫ﺮ‬ ‫ﺷ‬ ‫ﻭ‬ ، ‫ﺒﺮ‬‫ﻙ ﹶﺃ ﹾﻛ‬ ‫ﺮ‬ ‫ﺷ‬ : ‫ﻉ‬
‫ﺍ ﹴ‬‫ﻧﻮ‬‫ﻼﹶﺛﺔﹸ ﹶﺃ‬
‫ﻮ ﹶﺛ ﹶ‬ ‫ﻭﻫ‬
It consists of following three categories: Shirk Akbar (the Greater form of Polytheism), Shirk
Asghar (the Minor form of Polytheism), and Shirk Khafee (the Hidden form of Polytheism).
Allah does not forgive nor accept the righteous action when Shirk Akbar is committed.
Allah the Mighty & Majestic says:

⟨ ∩⊇⊇∉∪ #´‰‹Ïèt/ Kξ≈n=|Ê ¨≅|Ê ô‰s)sù
“Indeed Allah does not forgive that anything is associated with Him in worship but
He forgives other than that to whomever He wishes so whoever associates partners
with Allah has caused misguidance that has reached the ultimate deviation.”38
And the Glorified says:

“The Messiah said to the Children of Israel, “Worship Allah, my Lord and yours
indeed whoever associates partners in worship with Allah then Allah will forbid him
from paradise and his abode will be in the hellfire, there will be no one to help those
who oppress.”39
And the Most High says:
⟨ ∩⊄⊂∪ #·‘θèWΨ¨Β [™!$t6yδ çμ≈oΨù=yèyfsù 9≅yϑtã ô⎯ÏΒ (#θè=Ïϑtã $tΒ 4’n<Î) !$uΖøΒωs%uρ ®

“We will bring forward the deeds that they engaged in and cause them to be
scattered particles of dust.”40
And the Glorified says:
⟨ ∩∉∈∪ z⎯ƒÎÅ£≈sƒø:$# z⎯ÏΒ £⎯tΡθä3tGs9uρ y7è=uΗxå £⎯sÜt6ósu‹s9 |Mø.uõ°r& ÷⎦È⌡s9 ®
“If you associated any partners in worship then your deed will be rendered invalid
and you will be from those who lose.”41
And the Mighty and Majestic says:
⟨ ∩∇∇∪ tβθè=yϑ÷ètƒ (#θçΡ%x. $¨Β Οßγ÷Ζtã xÝÎ6yss9 (#θä.uõ°r& θs9uρ ®
“And if you were to associate partners in worship then the deeds you do will become
invalid.”42

Shirk Akbar consists of four categories:
The First kind is Shirk-ud-Da’wah (to associate partners with Allah by supplicating to other
than Him) and the evidence is His Statement:

“And when they ride upon the boat they call unto Allah sincerely but when He
causes them to arrive safely on land then they start to associate partners with Him
again.”43

one’s intention and in Desiring and Purpose). And the evidence is His Statement:

“Whosoever desires the life of this world and all of its splendor, to them We will pay
back in full by way of their deeds, and they will have no diminution therein. They are
those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter except the Fire’ and vain are the
deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do”44
‫ﺔ‬ ‫ﻋ‬ ‫ ﺍﻟﻄﱠﺎ‬‫ﺮﻙ‬ ‫ﺷ‬ : ‫ﻟﺚﹸ‬‫ﺍﻟﺜﱠﺎ‬
The Third kind is Shirk-ut-Taa’ah (to associate partners with Allah in obedience to other
than Him). And the evidence is His Statement:

“They took their rabbis and monks to be their lords besides Allah and the Messiah,
Son of Mary, while they were only commanded to worship One God. There is
nothing worthy or worship but Him. Glorified is He from having the partners that
they associate with Him.”45
And its correct meaning which contains no ambiguity is obeying the ‘Ulamaa (scholars) and
the ‘Ibaad (servants) in disobedience, not that they would supplicate to them. Just as the
Prophet  explained to ‘Adee bin Haatim when he questioned him about it saying, “We did
not used to worship them” wherein he mentioned that their worshipping them consisted of
obeying them in falling into disobedience (to Allah).

“So whosoever hopes to meet his Lord then let him do righteous deeds and not
associate partners with Him in worship.”47

 ‫ﻋﻠﹶﻰ‬ ‫ﺍ ِﺀ‬‫ﻮﺩ‬ ‫ﺴ‬
 ‫ﺔ ﺍﻟ‬ ‫ﻤﹶﻠ‬ ‫ﻨ‬‫ﺐ ﺍﻟ‬

“Shirk in this Ummah is more hidden than the crawling black ant upon the blackest stone in the darkest of
night.”48
And its expiation is his  statement:

‫ﻧ ﹺ‬‫ﻦ ﺍﻟﺬﱠ‬ ‫ﻣ‬ ‫ﻙ‬ ‫ﻔﺮ‬ ‫ﻐ‬ ‫ﺘ‬‫ﺳ‬ ‫ﻭﹶﺃ‬ ، ‫ﻋﹶﻠﻢ‬ ‫ﺎ ﹶﺃ‬‫ﻭﹶﺃﻧ‬ ‫ﺌﹰﺎ‬‫ﺷﻴ‬ ‫ﻚ‬
 ‫ﻙ ﹺﺑ‬ ‫ﺷ ﹺﺮ‬ ‫ﻚ ﹶﺃ ﹾﻥ ﺃﹸ‬

“O Allah, I seek refuge in you from associating any thing with you while I know it and I seek your
forgiveness from sin which I am not aware of.”49

Kufr (disbelief) consists of two forms

 ‫ﺮ ﻳ‬ ‫ ﹸﻛ ﹾﻔ‬: ‫ ﹸﻝ‬‫ﻉ ﺍﹾﻟﹶﺄﻭ‬

The First is the form of Kufr that takes one out of the religion and it consists of five
categories:

The First category is known as Kufr-ut-Takdheeb (the Disbelief that entails refuting what
Allah has revealed).
And the evidence is His Statement:

“And who is more oppressive than one who invents a lie upon Allah or denies the
truth that has come to him. Is there not a place of dwelling in the Hellfire for them to

The Second category is Kufr-ul-Ibaa’a and Istikbaar-ut-Tasdeeq (the Disbelief that entails
refusal and haughtiness towards the truth).
And the evidence is His Statement:

“And he went into his garden while being oppressive towards his own self. He said:
"I do not think that this will ever perish and I do not think that the Hour will ever
come, and if indeed I am brought back to my Lord I surely shall find better than this
when I return to Him." His companion said to him, during the talk with him: "Do
you disbelieve in Him Who created you out of dust, then out of mixed semen drops
of male and female discharge, then fashioned you into a man?" But as for my part (I
believe) that He is Allah, my Lord and none shall I associate as partner with my
Lord.”52

“But those who disbelieve from what they have been warned of only turn away.”53

The Second form of Kufr is the lesser type which does not take one out of the fold of Islam.
It is known as Kufr-un-Ni’mah (the Disbelief that entails denying the blessing one has been
blessed with).
And the evidence is His Statement:

Allah and Allah made them taste extreme hunger and fear for what they used to

Nifaaq consists of two categories: I’tiqaadee (hypocrisy of
Belief) and ‘Amalee (hypocrisy of Action)
Nifaaq-ul-I’tiqaadee (hypocrisy of Belief) consists of six categories in which those who engage
in it will be placed in the lowest depths of the Hellfire:

 ‫ﻳ‬‫ﺗ ﹾﻜﺬ‬ : ‫ ﹸﻝ‬‫ﺍ َﻷﻭ‬
The First is to reject the Messenger .
 ‫ﻮ ﹸﻝ‬‫ﺮﺳ‬ ‫ﻪ ﺍﻟ‬ ‫ﺎ َﺀ ﹺﺑ‬‫ﺎ ﺟ‬‫ﺾ ﻣ‬
‫ﻌ ﹺ‬ ‫ﺑ‬ ‫ﺐ‬
 ‫ﻳ‬‫ﺗ ﹾﻜﺬ‬ : ‫ﺍﻟﺜﱠﺎﻧﹺﻲ‬
The Second is to reject some of what was revealed to the Messenger .

The Fourth is to hate some of what was revealed to the Messenger

‫ﺨﻔﹶﺎ ﹺ‬
 ‫ﻧ‬‫ﺮﺓﹸ ﺑﹺﺎ‬ ‫ﺴ‬
 ‫ﻤ‬ ‫ ﺍﹾﻟ‬: ‫ﻣﺲ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﺍﹾﻟﺨ‬
The Fifth is to be content with ridiculing the religion revealed to the Messenger .
 ‫ﻮ ﹺﻝ‬‫ﺮﺳ‬ ‫ﻳ ﹺﻦ ﺍﻟ‬‫ﺎ ﹺﺭ ﺩ‬‫ﺘﺼ‬‫ﻧ‬‫ﻴﺔﹸ ﺑﹺﺎ‬‫ﻫ‬ ‫ﺍ‬‫ ﺍﹾﻟ ﹶﻜﺮ‬: ‫ﺩﺱ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﺍﻟﺴ‬
The Sixth is to dislike supporting the religion revealed to the Messenger .

“The signs of the hypocrite are three: When he speaks he lies, when he promises he breaks his promise, and
when he is entrusted with something he proves to be treacherous.”
And in another narration:
‫ﺭ‬ ‫ﺪ‬ ‫ﺪ ﹶﻏ‬ ‫ﻫ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻭﹺﺇﺫﹶﺍ ﻋ‬ ، ‫ﺮ‬ ‫ﺠ‬

 ‫ﺎ‬‫ﹺﺇﺫﹶﺍ ﺧ‬
“When he argues he uses foul language, and when he takes an oath he does not keep it.”

The Meaning of Taaghoot and its main categories
You should understand may Allah Most High have mercy upon you that the first thing in
which Allah has obliged the Son of Adam with is al-Kufr bit-Taaghoot (the disbelief in the false
deity) and al-Imaan billah (the belief in Allah).
The evidence is the Statement of the Most High:

“We sent a messenger to every nation ordering them to worship Allah and to abstain
(from worshipping) at-Taaghoot (the false deities)”56.
As for the description of al-Kufr bit-Taaghoot (the disbelief in the false deity) then it is defined
as believing in the falseness of anything that is worshipped besides Allah and to abandon it,
hate it, and to declare its adherents as disbelievers while opposing them (for their disbelief).
As for the meaning of al-Imaan billah (the belief in Allah) then it is defined as believing in
Allah and that He is the True God and the only Ma’bood (focal point of worship), He is
Alone there is none besides Him. It also entails purifying all acts of worship strictly for
Allah, negating every other Ma’bood (focal point of worship) besides Him, loving the People
of Ikhlaas (Pure Monotheism) and supporting them while hating the People of Shirk and
opposing them. This is the creed of Abraham that he humbled himself from whoever
desired it. This is the Uswah in which Allah informed of in His Statement:

“There is for you a good Uswah (example) in Abraham and those who were with him
when they said to their people, “Indeed we are free of you all and free of what you
associate with as partners to Allah, we declare you as disbelievers and there has

appeared enmity and hatred between us and between you forever unless you believe
in Allah, Alone.”57
And the Taaghoot (false deity) generally speaking includes everything that is worshipped
besides Allah and that is pleased to be worshipped as a Ma’bood (focal point of worship), or
to be followed (by the people) or is obeyed at the discretion of disobeying the commands of
Allah and His Messenger such a person is considered a Taaghoot.
As for the Tawaagheet (the plural form of Taaghoot) then its main categories are five:

ِ ‫ﻴ ﹺﺮ ﺍ‬‫ﺓ ﹶﻏ‬ ‫ﺩ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻋﺒ‬ ‫ﻲ ﹺﺇﻟﹶﻰ‬ ‫ﻋ‬ ‫ﺍ‬‫ﻴﻄﹶﺎ ﹸﻥ ﺍﻟﺪ‬‫ﺸ‬
 ‫ ﺍﻟ‬: ‫ ﹸﻝ‬‫ﺍ َﻷﻭ‬
The First category is the Shaytaan (Satan) who invites to the worship of anything other than
Allah.
And the evidence is the Statement of the Most High:

“Did I not ordain for all of O children of Adam not to worship Shaytaan (Satan)?
Indeed he is a plain enemy to you.” 58

The Second category is the ruler who allows changes to the Rulings of Allah Most High.
And the evidence is the Statement of the Most High:

“Do you not see those who allege that they believe in what was revealed to you and
what was revealed to those before you while desiring judgment from the Taaghoot?
They were commanded to disbelieve in them yet Satan only wants to mislead them
as far away from the truth as possible.” 59

The Third category is the one who rules by other than what Allah has revealed. And the
evidence is the Statement of the Most High:

“Whoever does not rule by what Allah has revealed then they are disbelievers.”60

The Fourth category is the one who alleges that he has knowledge of the unseen that Allah
does not have! And the evidence is the Statement of the Most High:

“The One Who has knowledge of the Unseen, He does not cause it to be known to
anyone except for the one whom He has chosen and then He makes a band of
watching guards to march before him and behind him.”61
And the Statement of the Most High:

“And with Him are the keys of the Unseen (all that is hidden). None knows them but
Him. He knows what is upon land and what is in the sea. There is not a leaf that falls
except that He knows of it. And there is not a seed buried deep in the depths of the
darkness of the earth or anything fresh or dry but it is written in a Clear Record.”62

The Fifth category is the one who is worshipped besides Allah while being pleased with this.
And the evidence is the Statement of the Most High:

“And whoever from amongst them says, “I am an Ilah (god) other than Him then
that person We will reward him with the Hellfire such will we reward those who are
oppressive.”63
You should also know that a person cannot be a believer in Allah until he has disbelieved in
the Taaghoot. And the evidence is the Statement of the Most High:

⟨ ∩⊄∈∉∪ îΛ⎧Î=tæ ìì‹Ïÿxœ ª!$#uρ 3 $oλm; tΠ$|ÁÏΡ$# Ÿω 4’s+øOâθø9$# Íοuρóãèø9$$Î/ y7|¡ôϑtGó™$#
“So whoever disbelieves in the Taaghoot and believes in Allah then he has held onto
the ‘Urwat-il-Wuthqaa (the most trustworthy handhold) that will never break. And
Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.”64
The Rushd (guidance) mentioned in this verse is the religion of Muhammad  and al-Ghayy
(transgression) is the religion of Aboo Jahl and the ‘Urwat-il-Wuthqaa is the declaration of Laa
Ilaha Illa Allah (there is nothing worthy of worship except for Allah) which includes an-Nafy
(negation) and al-Ithbaat (affirmation). Negation of all the categories of worship directed
towards other than Allah Most High and affirmation of all the categories of worship that are
directed towards Allah Alone, He has no partner.
