Hebert, Executive Director To Our Friends and Supporters, New Hampshire Partners in Education, whose roots date back to 1968, remains true to its mission of offering statewide support and leadership to local schools in establishing, maintaining, and expanding effective school volunteer programs and educational partnerships between schools and their communities. New Hampshire Partners in Education has maintained a successful track record throughout its 40 plus years as being an organization that not only recognizes those involved in partnerships and volunteer efforts, but also offers continued support and consultative services, regionalized training workshops, and various public awareness activities designed to promote the value and rewards of school volunteerism. We have made a commitment to take advantage of the opportunities that technology provides by bridging the distance gap between volunteers. Our web site is designed to be a valuable resource to school volunteers by providing current information and links to partners and other school volunteers that can help to grow and strengthen all school volunteer programs throughout the Granite State. We plan on expanding our outreach activities in the coming months to broaden our scope and awareness among NH schools and businesses. I would like to acknowledge the dedication and guidance of our Board and staff as we continue to refine and implement the organizational changes necessary for us to be effective in this current environment. I would also like to acknowledge the generous financial support from our sponsors and schools who understand the value of school volunteers to the schools and the students in their communities. We look forward to working with schools and local organizations to nurture and grow the school volunteer effort in the Granite State. We are committed to building bridges between schools and their communities in order to enhance and enrich our children’s education. Your continued support is appreciated and we look forward to serving you in the years ahead. Sincerely, Dillard E. Collins 2009 Blue Ribbon Award Schools Forty Years of Service Since 1968, we have been providing guidance and support to school volunteer programs and thousands of New Hampshire children have been touched by the efforts of countless school volunteers. In the academic year 2008-2009, over 54,000 volunteers provided over one million hours of service to almost 200 schools in New Hampshire who reported a total enrollment of over 115,000 students. There are over 600 schools in New Hampshire divided by K-8 public schools, 9-12 public schools and K-12 nonpublic schools. Our continued goal is to foster, support and facilitate volunteer programs in each school in the Granite State. Gold Circle Awards The Gold Circle Awards celebrates the valuable partnerships that schools and volunteer programs have with local businesses. By receiving volunteer and other resource support from organizations in their community, schools are able to balance resources to provide their students with the best educational experience possible. Blue Ribbon Awards The Blue Ribbon Awards recognizes the extraordinary efforts of school volunteer coordinators and their volunteer teams for the achievements realized during the previous school year. In 2008, 196 schools and their volunteer programs were selected to receive the Blue Ribbon award. A statewide award ceremony to recognize and award these outstanding volunteer programs is held each year. Education Station Introduced in 2008, this program is designed to collect donated classroom supplies from local businesses and organizations and distribute them to New Hampshire schools. Power of the Penny Campaign This annual campaign was created in an effort to teach children the significance of saving and to raise money for their schools. The campaign runs from October through April, at which time the schools report their outcome by identifying the school goal; the amount raised, the community involvement and most importantly, the learning experience for the children. For the 2008-2009 year, over 2.4 million pennies was raised – almost all of it donated to charity.
