The Office of Student Life and Housing Meal Plan Guidelines Keep this form for your records Participation All undergraduates living in residence hall housing must sign up for a meal plan & are assigned a 14 Flex meal plan ($2,205/semester) at the beginning of the semester. During the first week of class residents will have the opportunity to change their meal plan to a lower or higher plan. All meal plans will be renewed for the spring semester unless the Assistant Director of Student Life is notified. Students are responsible for notifying the Assistant Director of Student Life & Housing by filling out the correct paperwork in the Office of Student Life and Housing. Board Calendar The board calendar is based on Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Institute of Arts calendar, during certain times the selection and services will be scaled down or not available. Meals are not served in the dining commons during scheduled breaks and there is no charge for them. During days that the cafeteria is closed students will need to purchase their own meals or use their CaseCash. No credit is given for meals missed when the dining commons are open. Cancellation of the Meal Plan All students who withdraw, take leave of absence or are granted release from this contract are liable and will be charged a percentage of the remaining fees for the semester based on The Cleveland Institute of Art’s refund policy in addition to the amount of CaseCash spent during the term. Meal Plan Exemptions Procedures for exemptions from the meal plan are available upon request from the Director of Student Life and Housing. Miscellaneous Students who have recently arrived in the United States and have questions about observations of their religious dietary laws may wish to contact the CWRU International Student Services Office at 216-368-2517. Complaints or concerns about the meal plan or special dietary needs can be directed to the Director of Student Life and Housing. ID Cards The CIA ID card serves as the student meal card. You need a valid ID to participate in the meal plan. Lost IDs must be replaced by the Access Services Department located in the basement of the Crawford Hall Services Building. Temporary IDs may be obtained for three business days at Wade Commons. Temporary IDs must be returned to Access Services to reactivate new or found IDs. There is a $25 replacement fee for lost cards. You will not be issued a new ID card each year, you must keep this ID each year or you will need to purchase a new ID. IDs are not transferable. IDs which are lost or stolen should be reported to Security as quickly as possible. Use of a lost or stolen ID will result in disciplinary action. If you are canceling your meal plan or leaving CIA mid-year, you must turn in your CWRU ID to the CIA Housing Office. The Office of Student Life and Housing Meal Plan Guidelines Keep this form for your records Flex Meal Plans Students registered for meal plans enjoy the flexibility of tailoring their dining options to meet their needs and schedule. It offers all students who purchase the plan, residents and nonresidents, the ability to enjoy 14 meals per week at Leutner Dining Commons. It also provides the flexibility of 200 CaseCash dollars to be used at a number of convenient retail locations on and near campus. CaseCash can also be used in the cafeteria if all meal points are exhausted before the plan resets at the end of the week. Flex plan holders may enter the dining commons in conjunction with their respective meal plans (14 ) during normal operating hours. Each card-swiped entry into the dining commons is regarded as one meal and will be automatically deducted from the weekly meal balance. Students on the Flex plans are allowed a maximum of one visit per meal period (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and a total of 14 visits per week respectively. The meal plan resets every week on Saturday at Midnight. Each coupon will allow you to use one of your meal swipes to host a guest at meal-swipe locations (Fribley, Leutner, Grab-It or L3 Grill.) Passes must be retrieved in advance at the Case Dining Office in Crawford Room 215 in Crawford Hall* . * Passes are valid for one semester only and are limited to two per semester. Student will have one meal swipe deducted for each guest pass issued.
