The Middle Ages ABC Book
Background:
The Middle Ages was a time of conflict filled with many changes in both Europe and Asia.
Many aspects of culture came to a halt, religion became the most important part of a commoner’s
life, and trade spread along the Silk Road from China to Europe. The Middle Ages, also known
as the Dark Ages, was a time of conflict where people lived a hard life ruled by conquerors and
kings.
Your Goal:
You will understand how the Middle Ages brought about a drastic change to the Eastern and
Western world and influenced politics, religion, and culture.
Your Task:
You will construct an ABC Book that summarizes the major concepts of the Middle Ages.
You will be asked to make a separate page for each letter:
 include a word/concept
 summary of how the word/concept affects culture in the Middle Ages
 a picture of the word/ concept
Requirements:




Cover Page: A creative title including ABCs in the name, your name and period number, a
different color than the content pages.
Content Pages: There must be 26 different pages with a large letter “A” etc. at the top. Then
add the word to the letter “A”merica. Add a picture that shows the concept and then fill in
one to two complete sentences for that particular concept.
Back Cover: A different color than the content pages
Binding: Bind your book together with string, fasteners, etc. (be creative)
