But they w e r e forced back
b e c a u s e of bad w e a t h e r when they w e r e over the Banda Sea.
They l o s t contact with e a c h o t h e r and M i s s Scott landed on the island
of Sumbawar.

In Northern Ireland it's been a quiet Christmas with no
troubles. A t one end of Belfast's peace barrier, officers of the
first regiment of the Royal Horse Artillery relieved their m e n on
guard duty for 4 hours so that they could hav~: a Christmas lunch,
The officers had to be temporarily satisfied with offerings from
friendly householders.

been there since the trouble started and will soon be leaving.

In Londonderry too, local residents brightened up the Christmas
of the m e n on the streets. Employer's of a shirt factory~ both
Catholic and Protestant, had clubbed together to buy presents for the
troops.
Today, they were driven round the city in a r m y vehicles
to lmnd out the gifts.

arrived to ask for news of servicemen captured or missing in
North Vietnam.
They went to the North Vietnamese diplomatic mission
and were told no-lbne could see them tillMonday.
But later the

wculd be given gradually.
