This Introduction to Nutrition for Health Professionals class is only for the motivated and online-savvy student. Computer assistance will NOT be available for this course. You are expected to already have the computer skills for an online class. Your first test to see if you will be successful in the class is if you can register for all of the components of the course correctly and complete your first assignment on time! This is NOT a work-at-your-own-pace class. You will have assignments due each week. Nutrition 210 and Nutrition 211 are parallel courses. In other words, you would not want to take both courses as they cover the same general topics. Nutrition 211 covers more of the details of physiology and chemistry in nutrition that individuals going into the health professions will find valuable. There are no mandatory meetings for this class. Student Learning Outcomes: 1. Students will analyze the nutritional adequacy of their own food intake and write a report making recommendations to maximize nutritional status that can be applied to their own good health. 2. Students will critically review and synthesize the findings in scientific literature and recommend factors to improve nutritional status in at risk populations. 3. Students will assess the effect of nutritional lifestyle factors on mortality and formulate recommendations to minimize the risk factors for chronic diseases. 4. Students will investigate nutrition information from the Internet and critique the accuracy and reliability of the information as it applies to health care. FYI: MyCuesta Email Forwarding: Gmail lets you automatically forward incoming mail to another address. Here's how to forward messages automatically: 1. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page, and open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab. 2. From the first drop-down menu in the Forwarding section, select 'Add new email address.' 3. Enter the email address to which you would like your messages forwarded. 4. For your security, it will send verification to that email address. 5. Open your forwarding email account, and find the confirmation message from the Gmail team. 6. Click the verification link in that email. 7. Back in your Gmail account, select the 'Forward a copy of incoming mail to...' option and select your forwarding address from the drop-down menu. 8. Select the action you'd like your messages to take from the drop-down menu. You can choose to keep Gmail's copy of the message in your inbox, or you can send it automatically to All Mail or Trash. 9.
