Liberal Arts
The Navitas at UMass Boston program offers an
alternative pathway to the University of Massachusetts
Boston for international students who may not qualify for
direct entry and who seek a supportive study environment.
The Navitas UPP is equivalent to the
first year of a UMass Boston bachelor’s
degree program. When you successfully
complete Year 1 with Navitas you can
move directly into the second year of your
undergraduate degree.
All students entering the program are fully
matriculated UMass Boston students from
day one with Navitas.

offers a variety of course options in the
study of politics to prepare students for
both professional success and informed,
engaged citizenship in our increasingly
globalized world. The department’s
course offerings are organized into:

■■ The major and minor in Political Science
offers the opportunity to explore many
different dimensions of political life,
ranging from small groups and citizens’
organizations, to cities, individual
nations, and global systems.
■■ The study of politics includes not only
basic information about government
and political process, but also explores
broad issues of power, conflict, peace,
citizenship, representation, and justice.
■■ An internship related to Politics,
Government or Public Service, can earn
up to 9 credits towards your major and
provide valuable international work
experience for your resume!
■■ Take exciting courses such as
‘Government and Politics of the United
States,’ and ‘Massachusetts Politics,’- take
the theories you learned in the classroom
and apply them directly to an internship
at one of the many global and political
organizations in Boston.
