ENZYME MINI TEST STUDY GUIDE The Mini Test may include any of the following question types: Multiple choice Matching Free Response (In full sentence/paragraph form) Free Response (In drawing form) Free Response (one word answer form) You should study the following resources: Enzyme Note Sheets Enzyme Vocab Enzyme WS, WS The Sequel, and WS The Triple Feature The Workbook MC choice questions assigned for HW (Answer Key is posted online) The animations available in the “Fun Bio links” section of the website More specifically, you should know… What part of the enzyme the substrate binds to The general formulas for naming enzymes (be able to determine the function of an enzyme based on its name) The four general characteristics of enzymes The specific molecular process by which both catabolic and anabolic enzymes help the reaction once the substrate is in the active site. That is, know that catabolic enzymes tweak the bonds in the substrate weakening them and making them easier to break. Anabolic enzymes bind to the reactants and line them up so that they are situated next to each other at the correct angle to bind. Know all of your vocabulary (there will be a matching section where you have to match the vocabulary term to the definition) Be able to label a picture similar to the one on the Enzymes WS, The Sequel. Know what the overall function for ALL enzymes is. Know the difference between the lock and key model and the induced fit model of enzyme binding. Be able to answer a question JUST LIKE ANY of the questions on the Enzyme WS, WS The Sequel, and WS The Triple Feature. (Answer Keys will be posted online) Make sure you go over these WSs!! Know how to do ANY of the those types of problems. You will likely have to draw a catabolic or anabolic reaction just like you had to in the Enzyme WS.
