Civil Procedure Fall 2010 Professor Jonathan Hafetz Room 504 jonathan.hafetz@shu.edu 973-642-8492 Course Description Reading Welcome to Civil Procedure. We will be using the Civil Procedure textbook by Rowe, Sherry, and Tidmarsh (2d edition 2008) and the 2010 supplement. The supplement contains the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, relevant statutes, and recent developments in the law of civil procedure. We will frequently refer to these materials in the supplement during the course. The assigned reading will come from the textbook and supplement. If you are interested in additional reading, I recommend Glannon’s Civil Procedure Examples and Explanations (6th edition 2008). It is a helpful study aid and provides a summary of various topics in civil procedure. Another useful book is Civil Procedure Stories (2d edition 2008) (Kevin Clermont ed.), which contains essays on significant civil procedure cases and provides additional historical, social, political, and factual context. Attendance The law school’s mandatory attendance policy is in effect for this class. Availability I am at school most days. Feel free to stop by my office with questions or concerns. Grading The grade in this course will be based on an anonymous closed-book final examination. There will not be a midterm examination.
