Steps to Making Online Learning Successful
INTRODUCTION
This is a step-by-step guide for those taking an Agency University (AU) online course.
Through Agency University's partnership with El Centro College of Dallas County Community College
District (DCCCD), you are able to take online courses through the DCCCD eCampus websitehttp://ecampus.dcccd.edu/. Once logged into eCampus, you will be able to access your online course
material, interact with other participants, and submit the required coursework.
Following this guide will help you to
Access the eCampus website
Login into eCampus using your 7-digit student ID number
Navigate through an AU course
Set up personal information, such as email
Know where to get additional support for your online course
One Last Thing
You are able to take your online course because of a software application called Blackboard.
This guide will provide some links and tips on how to best use Blackboard for a successful online learning
experience.

ACCESS
1. Before anything, it is always good to make sure your Internet browser and computer system are
compatible with Blackboard. There is a Blackboard Browser Support Table available online.
2. Go to http://ecampus.dcccd.edu/.
3. Select your semester and year link. For example: Access Fall 2013 Courses.

LOGIN
1. The login box will appear in the middle of the page.
2. In the dialogue box, enter your Username and Password.
3. Right below the login box is information on Password Issues and How to Log In for New Users.
4. NEW USERS
Your username is your 7 digit Student ID number preceded by the letter "e." For first time users,
the password is the same as the username.
Example
Username: e9876543
Password: e9876543
NAVIGATION
1. On the My DCCCD homepage, you can access your courses from the Courses tab at the top left of
the screen.
2. Click on the link for your course.
3. On your first time logging in, you will see a Welcome Blackboard message.
4. The message points out the Global navigation menu. This is where you will access your courses,
settings, and personal information. You can learn how to navigate the Blackboard menu through

EMAIL
It is very important to make sure we have the correct email on file for vital information to reach you.
There are a couple of ways to go about this.
1. Option One: click on My DCCCD tab at the top of your screen and find the Personal Information link
under the Tools box.
2. Option Two: At the top of your screen, move your mouse to the top right-hand side.
3. You will see an arrow pointing down. Click on it.

4. Once you click on it, the arrow will point up and you can see the Global Navigation Menu. Underneath
the Settings tab, is an option to edit Personal Information.
5. Once on the personal information menu, click Edit Personal Information.

6. Double check your first name, last name, and email. Please put in an email you frequently check. This
is also where you can locate your 7-digit Student ID number (which is helpful for transcript request
forms).

7. After reviewing all personal information, click the button at the bottom of the screen to Submit.

You can try to sign up for a NetMail account with Dallas County Community College District at
https://www1.dcccd.edu/netmail/input.cfm.
COURSE MENU
1. On your course homepage, you should find a course menu marked by green tabs.
2. This close up photo shows that the course menu contains different content areas.
3. Under the VIDEOS content area, you will find the video recordings of instructors and their
presentations. This is the instructional material that counts toward Continual Education Units from
Dallas County Community College District. Please view the videos in completion.

4. In the MATERIALS content area; you can access the presentation slides from the instructional
videos. You can also access supplemental materials, such as handouts and exercises.
5. The QUIZZES content area is where you will access any quizzes needed to be taken in order to
complete the course. In addition, this content area may contain pre and post course evaluations to
be taken before viewing the instructional videos and after completing the course.
6. The ASSIGNMENTS content area is where you will access any assignments required for the course.
7. See Additional Information on the last page of this guide for support on submitting assignments or
taking a quiz using Blackboard.
