Brookhaven College Dual Credit/Concurrent Enrollment Packet Educational and employment opportunities are offered by the Dallas County Community College District without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity or gender expression. This packet contains information and documentation needed in order to ensure students get credit for any dual credit classes taken at Brookhaven College. Please be sure to follow and complete the following steps: 1) Apply to Brookhaven College and get connected: • Application o Complete Brookhaven College admissions online application. https://www1.dcccd.edu/stuapp/ o Print the admission results. o If you receive anything other than the “Congratulations” letter of acceptance, email the dual credit liaison with your name, high school, birth date and application number located on the bottom left of the last page. • Set up an eConnect account (DCCCD ID# is necessary to complete this step.) o Use the “Setup My eConnect Account” link at the end of your application letter to create your account using your DCCCD ID# assigned in the letter. o You also may go to https://econnect.dcccd.edu/index.jsp and utilize the “I’m new to eConnect” link o Ensure you use the same email address submitted on your application to create your eConnect account. 2) Testing and/or Exemptions • Identify your Texas Success Initiative qualifications (SAT, ACT, STARR, PSAT) or exemption o For a complete list of exemptions go to https://www1.dcccd.edu/catalog/admiss/hs_dual.cfm?view=new o If you do not meet one of the TSI qualifications listed above, you will need to complete the Pre-Assessment Activity in order to take the TSI exam. • Pre-assessment Activity (Must be completed at least one week prior to taking the TSI exam) o Go to http://econnect.dcccd.edu/PreAssessmentVideo/ o Watch the Pre-assessment video (15 minutes) o Following the video, click on the link beneath it o Log into eConnect and complete all three sections (Reading, Writing and Math) of the Pre-assessment o Once completed, email your high school counselor with your name, birth date and DCCCD ID# confirming you have completed the pre-assessment. • Make arrangements to take the TSI exam, if you do not meet one of the TSI qualifications listed. o Students must meet the minimum TSI requirements for a course before being allowed to enroll in that course. o The TSI exam may be taken at Brookhaven College or at your high school. At Your High School At Brookhaven College Complete Pre-assessment activity Complete Pre-assessment activity Check with your high school counselor to see if testing is available. • Obtain referral with Brookhaven College dual credit advisor or liaison before testing (referral will have testing lab hours listed) If you do meet one of the TSI qualifications listed, you must provide either the high school counselor or dual credit liaison with acceptable qualification scores during the enrollment process. 3) Enroll for Classes • Make sure you have all the following forms and requirements before you proceed or enrollment at Brookhaven College. Deadlines for Dual Credit Turn in your completed application to Brookhaven College. Check with your high school counselor or with the appropriate dual credit liaison for deadlines. • Forms: Complete following forms. o Consent to Emergency Treatment Contact Form o Enrollment Form - Have your high school counselor complete this form with all signatures included. • Transcript: o Request a high school transcript from your high school or counselor o Home school transcripts must include title of each course with letter grade, signature of educator, and/or principal, and seal of notary public • Vaccination: o Meningitis Vaccination § Students taking classes on college campus or online must provide proof of meningitis vaccination § Students who are taking dual credit classes at their high school are not required to obtain a meningitis vaccination. They will be waived by the dual credit advisor § Based on State laws, proof of vaccination is due no later than 10 days before the 1st day of classes for all dual credit students of each semester session for courses taken on any DCCCD campus. 4) You are now enrolled for classes • Registration o Once enrolled in Brookhaven classes, you will receive a Registration Summary. Take the registration summary to your high school counselor, so that they are aware of any courses you might be taking in the summer semester. • Books o If taking dual credit classes on high school campus, speak to your high school counselor about whether books are provided to you. o If taking classes in the summer, books might not be provided to you, and you must purchase them.
