Rules for honors option for courses with Professor James Biddle: The honors option cannot be another paper, another video, a crew position, or any other requirement for the course. The honors option cannot be “just something extra” to receive honors credit. An honors option for Professor Biddle must include 1.) A research element with methodology 2.) A skills element 3.) A presentation element. 1. Request for Honors Option The request for an honors option for a course with Professor Biddle must be made the semester before the course of request (requests for Spring semester courses should be made in Fall semester, requests for Fall courses should be made during the Spring semester. I do not do honors options for summer courses). All requests must include: 1.) a formal pitch of the intended work that includes 2.) a formal treatment of the intended work 3.) a formal timetable for completion. Informal pitches will be rejected. 2. Approval of Honors Option If Professor Biddle approves the honors option, requirements for the student include: 1.) adherence to the timetable designed by the student and approved by Professor Biddle 2.) weekly meetings with Professor Biddle 3.) set-up and scheduling of formal presentation. Failure to adhere to any of these and Professor Biddle will formally reject the honors option. 3. Formal Presentation The student must present the honors option work through a formal presentation. The formal presentation must include: 1.) A time and place organized by the student and approved by Professor Biddle 2.) a panel of Professor Biddle, another professor or professional of Professor Biddle's choosing, and a graduate student of Professor Biddle's choosing 3.) a written synopsis of the topic given to the panel two weeks in advance 4.) a visual presentation of the topic 5.) a question and answer session on the topic by the panel. Only the panel may attend the presentation.
