Hornik Dear Neighbor: Although I am writing this letter and the temperature reads 90 degrees, school has begun which means that fall and then winter is right around the corner. I hope you were able to get to the Recreation Summer Concert Series for some great music and fantastic fireworks. We just celebrated Marlboro Day with a 30-plus year tradition of family fun for thousands of attendees. It is truly my favorite event of the year. Regardless of the season, our Recreation Department never stops working to ensure that there is a wide variety of programs available to residents. I am pleased to present the Department of Recreation program brochure for Fall/Winter 2015/2016 complete with returning favorites and new programs for all ages. To access these great offerings, take advantage of on-line program registration which gives residents a convenient way to register for recreation programs right from home at any time. The e-brochure is easily accessible on the home page of the Township website throughout the year. Of course, if you prefer, please visit the Recreation Center to register in person or to pick up a printed brochure. Updates regarding recreation events and issues of interest can be obtained through Email Notices, Reverse 911, Facebook and Twitter. Please visit our website at www.marlboronj.gov and click the blue "Communications for Residents" button on our home page. These paperless options are a convenient and cost effective way to quickly disseminate important information to residents, even when power outages and weather emergencies affect us. Thanks to Recreation Department Head, Ted Ernst, and the entire recreation staff for their commitment to making Marlboro’s Recreation program outstanding. The Department is guided by the Recreation and Swim Advisory Committee headed by Eric Cohen, who, along with the other Committee members, selflessly dedicates countless hours, time and energy to make Recreation more successful year after year. I encourage everyone to take advantage of the wonderful recreation opportunities offered in our Town and enjoy the programs which help make Marlboro a great community to live, work and raise a family. Sincerely, Jonathan L. Hornik Mayor -3- Marlboro Township DEPARTMENT OF RECREATION The Marlboro Township Department of Recreation is proud to present our Recreation Program Guide. In 2011 it expanded to include a partnership with Wujiang, China. As part of the program, Marlboro students welcome their peers from these countries into their homes for a fun-filled week of activities. Host children then have the opportunity to travel to the country of the students that they hosted for a one week homestay in our sister city as well as additional travel to further learn and understand the country and culture. This program has provided meaningful multicultural and educational experiences for hundreds of students and their families who have participated from our town and abroad and has enabled people in the community to act as responsible global citizens, working for peace and understanding in a diverse world. Marlboro Township is now accepting applications for host families to participate in this cultural exchange as well as seeking committee members and volunteers.
