URBAN SOCCER LEADERSHIP ACADEMY BASIC INFORMATION FOR PARENTS USLA MISSION STATEMENT Urban Soccer Leadership Academy of San Antonio is a non-profit and educational organization whose mission is to establish a neighborhood based, youth leadership service development program where students of all ages can learn the fundamentals of soccer in an environment that encourages integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership while enhancing pride in the community. We strive to provide San Antonio’s urban youth opportunities to build character learn civic responsibility and develop social and leadership skills through the soccer experience. If a team wishes to participate in a second tournament or playoff(s), USLA will assist the team in fundraising events and seeking sponsorship support. GENERAL INFORMATION Age Verification - Birth Certificates are required at registration for all new players. Parents please be prepared to turn in a copy of the birth certificate upon registering your child. Age Cutoff Date – Per STYSA Cutoff chart, July 31st is the age cutoff per year (chart available via our website) Playing Up - Player’s may “play-up” in an older age group on a case-by-case basis based on need. USLA reserves the right to make decisions. No players under any circumstance are allowed to “play-down”. U9-U11 can play up 1 year from their age group, U12-U18 can play up 2 years from their age group. Scholarships - Are available according to your annual household income threshold or based on review by USLA registrar. FUNDRAISING DUTIES We are currently seeking new fundraisers for players to participate in to offset the cost of Club Fees. The reason we are able to offer quality affordable soccer is that we rely heavily on our fundraising efforts. A few fundraisers we participate in are : 1. Chocolate Candy Bar Sale – Every child receives a $30 credit per box sold 2.
