ROY B WILKINS

Approaching the canvas with a quiet mind, Roy B Wilkins is an
instinctive artist who allows his reactions to the music he
listens to help shape the creative process of his work. His
works are emotional landscapes in a spontaneous abstract
expressionist style. They resonate with energy as he
experiments with different media and techniques.
BIO
Born in Greenwich, South East London, Roy B Wilkins settled in Melbourne in 1999 and began
painting. He is largely self-taught with a lifelong passion for art and art history.
Roy’s paintings are created by experimentation with acrylics, ink, salt, drawing, collage, stencilling,
and spray paint. This is applied in layers of patterns, shapes, lines and colour. They are reworked
and layered until satisfying results are revealed.
The motivation for painting comes from feelings and reactions to music stimuli, usually electronic
music. The images are emotional landscapes in a spontaneous abstract expressionist style.
“I go with the energy and bring a feeling from the music,’’ he says.
A prolific painter, Roy paints as often as he can and on whatever surface he can find
