How do I outline a history text chapter?
1. Think ahead a little; the author broke it into sections – your outline should have
sections.
2. It’s history, so it’s often a STORY – and stories are CHRONOLOGICAL…so think
about outlining a story!
3. Highlight and describe key terms, which in HISTORY include
EVENTS [like “the crowning of Charlemagne”} and WHERE they happened and WHY
[or SO WHAT] it’s a “big deal”
PEOPLE [like Charlemagne] and WHY [or SO WHAT] they are a “big deal”
NATIONS [like “the Byzantines”] and WHERE they are and WHY [or SO WHAT] they
are a “big deal”
Any SPECIAL TERMS [like “Caesaropapism”] and their DEFINITION.
So an outline is bullets and phrases, not necessarily complete sentences.
It could be…
