It is not a technical audition, but a way to determine what voices are available in the group and to assess each person’s potential. Enthusiasm – Singers must be eager and prepared to learn, be adventurous and not be afraid to sing among friends and other group members. Membership fee – There will be a small subscription token of $20 per month. Why is SLO organising another singing group Ms Ng Siew Eng, General Manager: “Time and time again, we have had lots of people who love singing come up to us to share that they could not make it to the Opera Chorus because of higher technical demand and requirements. Over time, we think it is such a pity, so we decided to do something about this interest. Singing has been found to be good for the soul and mental agility as it apparently boosts the immune system, and lifts spirits in the midst of life’s pressures. Singing also helps to create a positive community, and firm and lasting friendships Singers are not selected for their choral abilities but for the sheer joy of making music. It is strictly not a choral group. SLO wants people who are enthusiastic about singing and get the joy of making music together. Aside from being able to bond and create an active community spirit, the choir is good for socializing in a relaxed and unpressured time. We get our inspiration from people who want to sing therefore, we want to provide a platform for such recreation.” To register, please contact Singapore Lyric Opera at 6336 1929. ### For media enquiries, please contact: Nur Haswani Bte Sungit Senior Public Relations Executive Sirius Art Pte Ltd 6488 0154 haswani@siriusart.com.sg Page 2 of 2
