SLIM was founded in 1970 and subsequently incorporated by Act 41 of 1980 of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri lanka. SLIM is a member of the federation of Chamber of
Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka and ESOMAR, the federation of marketing Research Industries.
SLIM also serves as the President of the Asia Marketing Federation. AMF is affiliated to the world

Preliminary Certificate in Marketing
The institute has all the facilities to conduct any higher studies in Information Technology, Quantity
Surveying, Civil Engineering and Business Management. The lecture rooms, computer laboratories, library, etc, are spread over two different locations.
Lecture rooms
The lecture rooms are furnished with comfortable chairs, writing tables, and equipped with modern teaching aids. Our computer courses are taught in modern ICT suites fully equipped with latest computers.

Library
The well stocked library is the most rewarding place for every student who is in pursuit of knowledge. The library consists of books, periodicals, audio visuals and CD ROMs. The book collection has over 750 volumes covering all IT and management level of study. The stock is updated annually and consist of multiple copies of course text together with supplementary and reference material.
The library subscribes to academic and professional journals and digital resources. It provides students with access to current information and research in the field through corporate membership of other libraries. This has increased the access to information resources.
Computer laboratories
The laboratories are fully air conditioned .It consist of over 100 high end PC’s networked and located in four laboratories employing the most recent advanced Technology in the field of networking .
Each student is allocated a storage space on central file servers. Additionally, students can use the printing, document scanning and CD copying services offered by the laboratory. Additional equipment required by the students for special projects and assignments can be arranged on request.
Student union
The institute is entrusted with the task of perceiving itself as a human organization within which the students are the most valued components.
Students are members of the students union’s, which exists to promote their educational, social and general interests. The major aim of the union is to provide all its members with constant support and guidance during their years at IIS City Campus.
Auditorium
The Auditorium is designed as a multi-purpose theatre. It is ideal for plenary conference sessions and lectures, but can also be used for films and stage performances. It is fitted with a wide range of equipments including data projector and a PA system, an experienced Technician is also always on hand. It has a large stage, but no natural daylight.
