Keep your finger on the pulse. Get in behind the scenes here: Sometimes it’s easy to forget that our online selves define who we are just as much as our real life interactions do. Don’t let your social media persona get you into an unpleasant or embarrassing situation. WWW.AUT.AC.NZ/SOCIAL TALK CHAT 62 INDULGE SHARE Here are 5 tips for a trouble-free social media existence: • Don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say in a real life situation • Avoid posting online when you have been drinking alcohol • Don’t react in anger take a break for 15 minutes and consider your response • Avoid overly emotional or vulnerable posts - you may regret these later on • Remember that what you put on the internet stays there forever 63 DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT YOU DID LAST NIGHT? FACEBOOK DOES… A few drinks with friends can make for a memorable night… especially if you can’t recall what happened! Excessive drinking is a problem in New Zealand, and the habits you form now are likely to stay with you in the future. The best way we can change this culture is to be mindful of our own behaviour and watch out for our friends. 64 Get wise about how much is too much and the real effects of alcohol on your body and mind.
