9/26/2013 AUT IEEE Student Branch Branch Activity Report Yudhish Khatri AUT SB Chair Yudhish Khatri AUT IEEE Student Branch Branch Activity Report AUT IEEE Student Branch Re-formation Date: 26/07/13 On this day the AUT student branch was re-formed by students consisting of mostly 3rd years BE (Hons). A L31 meeting report has been submitted using vtools, and it gives a description of what took place in the meeting. The executive committee was also elected on the day, and following is the list of committee members elected into different positions. Yudhish Khatri – Chairperson Jakiv Biondic – Vice Chair Kaiser Nurkhal – Treasurer Jagmohan Singh – Secretary It was decided to meet with the University of Auckland Student Branch and get some ideas and help from them starting the student branch. AUT and UoA Student Branch Meeting Date: 01/08/13 This meeting was about introducing and getting to know the other student branch in close vicinity. The main purpose of this meeting was to gain useful information and ideas on running the student branch from the UoA SB, as well as introducing ourselves so that in the future maybe we could work together and do some conjoint events. A L31 meeting report was submitted for this via vtools. AUT Student Branch Membership Drive and Event Date: 14/08/13 This was the very 1st event hosted by the AUT SB, and its main purpose was to recruit more members and also inform students of who we are and what we do. 1 Yudhish Khatri The event was deemed to be a success due to a very good turnout of students (50 non-member attendance), one major motivation for students to attend was free pizza at the end. Following the event we had stalls open one day a week for two weeks for students to sign-up at and also get more information. By the end of those two weeks our membership numbers have gone from 4 to 20. Industry Speaker and CV, Cover letter Workshop Date: 04/09/13 The workshop was being planned by the AUT SB working together with the careers manager of AUT. Its main purpose was to educate the students on how to write a CV and Cover Letter properly and also we had a guest speaker from Beca coming to talk to the students handling themselves in interviews; dress code and presentation, speaking with the interviewer, types of questions they could encounter and how to follow-up an interview. This event was postponed and then later cancelled because the Industry Speaker was not able to make it due to some unforeseen circumstances, and we could not find another replacement Industry Speaker in such short notice. Huntly Power Station Site Visit Date: 17/09/13 A site visit was very successful. We had a turnout of 35 people and out of them 20 were IEEE members. The site visit consisted of a 45min presentation and 1hr tour around the facility. Future information will be added as we are currently making a L31 report. 2
