Morrisby Guidance Service from Youth Connexions

Morrisby Guidance Service
from Youth Connexions
What is Morrisby?
The Morrisby Guidance Service (MGS) aids the
process of making careers and educational
choices by providing an objective statement
of a person’s underlying abilities, personality
and career preferences. This is based on a
comprehensive set of paper and pencil tests:
the Morrisby Profile (MP) and a Morrisby Careers
Questionnaire (MCQ).
Morrisby measures potential rather than simply
academic attainment. Its key focus is on what
type rather than how much ability the student has,
and how the student likes to put abilities to use.

What is the Morrisby Guidance Report?
A guidance-trained Youth Connexions Personal
Adviser can help support the interpretation of the
results and provide ongoing impartial
careers guidance.
Feedback is given through an initial group session
explaining the report, followed by an individual
1:1 interview interpreting and discussing the
results. This allows dedicated time with a trained
careers guidance professional to form some
initial plans about career and course choices.
All candidates are entitled to feedback. “Test
users should provide the test taker… with
feedback about the results in a form that
makes clear the implications of the results, is
clear and in a style appropriate to their level of
understanding.” [British Psychological Society, Test
Taker’s Guide].
Every student also gets their own personal
account on www.morrisby.com, which has
access to an extensive range of careers
resources including entry/progression routes,
subject and course requirements, personal
statement templates and adviser support.
