HIGHLIGHT OF ACTIVITIES
FOR THE MONTH OCTOBER
SY-2013-2014 Business Week Celebration –Year 2 October 3-­‐4, 2013 The College of Business Administration led by the department’s students’ organization, the Team Negosyante, celebrated the Business Week Year-­‐2 with this year’s theme: Dream! Believe! Achieve! The Entrepreneurial Motivation to Succeed! The team’s celebration has the following activities: A Holy Mass was celebrated by Father Winston to open the 2-­‐day celebration. Immediately after the Holy Mass, it was followed by the blessing of business booths. Dr. Eric L. Olivarez together with Dean Zernan Dimaiwat, Dean of OSA and Mrs. Lorna C. Condes, Head of Business Administration, led the cutting of ribbon to signal the opening of the Business Bazaars of the participating student-­‐traders at the Chow Area. The cutting of ribbon was witnessed and supported by other faculty members and students. Present during the opening day were Mrs. Teresita Abuan, Head of College of Education; Mr. Dennis Quinto, Head of Information Technology; Engr. Caliroline Rodriguez, Head of Math and Science; Mrs. Maria Lourdes Recaido, Mrs. Maria Victoria Laplana, Mr. Cirni Gecosala, Mr. Eduardo Candare, and Mrs. Mary Rose Vidallon, all are faculty members of College of Business Administration. There were about 30 business bazaars operated in the Chow Area where the student-­‐
traders displayed and sold their products for the whole day affair. There were also outside business owners invited like Tupperware, Kids Books Fair and FM Fragrance who joined the business celebration, occupied a business bazaar and displayed their own products in the Chow Area. The formal opening of business bazaars was followed by festive dance presentations of business students from each level featuring the 80’s and 90’s era at the OC Quadrangle. The basketball and volleyball Varsity Group showed their own rendition of Whoops Kiri Whoops where they were declared winner in the dance contest. The presence of Dr. Pablo Olivarez, the President of Olivarez College, was acknowledged and he witnessed the festive dance presentations of the business students. After the festive dance presentations, the same group together with Dr. Eric L. Olivarez proceeded to the PRO Lobby where the Business Exhibit is located. Exhibited were the different series of Philippine money (coins and bills), the products of the livelihood projects and works of business students during their outreach activities like recycled bags (made of straws and beads), accessories, lanterns, key chains, and the documents and pictures of Team Negosyante highlighting the 2012-­‐13 activities. Then, the group was invited by Mrs. Condes and the TN officers to have a simple breakfast at the business laboratory. Several activities were simultaneously happened during the day like: § Movie Theater located at PRO Room 204. Freshmen students headed and operated the movie theater from 9:00 in the morning till 6:00 in the evening. § Business Opportunity Seminar at the Chow Area spearheaded by the 4th year students. They invited Mr. Mr. Edmond Domingo, Marketing Manager-­‐FM Group Fragrance Inc as their resource speaker who talked about the opportunity that the students could have in their perfume business and gave some tips on how to start a simple business. § Business Quiz Bee was conducted at the OC Auditorium at 11:00 in the morning which was participated by 10 group contestants composed of four members each group from BSA, BSBA students. Top three groups were announced winners of the Quiz Bee which will be awarded during the culminating activity on October 4. § At 5:00 in the afternoon, a Comedy Bar was opened at Room 203 headed by Mr. John Alden Pachica and company. The bar show ended at 8:00 o’clock in the evening. October 4, Friday, was the second day of Business Week Year 2 celebration where the group conducted their Pinoy-­‐Mini-­‐Olympic. At 8:30 in the morning, the students were gathered at the OC Gymnasium to start the Pinoy-­‐Mini-­‐Olympic. They were grouped according to their year level. Mr. Michael Caducoy assisted by Arjeep Agpalasin headed the mini-­‐olympic-­‐the relay-­‐amazing race. They explained the mechanics of the game and on how a group will win. The relay-­‐amazing race ended at exactly 12:00 in the afternoon. There, the students took their lunch and waited for the culminating activity. Dean Zernan Dimaiwat, Dean of Students Affairs, Mr. Eduardo Candare, Mr. Cirni Gecosala, Mr. Michael Caducoy and Mrs. Lorna Condes were present during the Pinoy Mini-­‐Olympic. At 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon, culminating activity was held at the OC Gymnasium. This is to award the winners of all the activities held during the 2-­‐day celebration. The winners were given gold medals, certificates, tokens and cash prizes. Olivarez, the VP for Academics and Services, and Mrs. Lorna C. Condes, the Head of College of Business Administration, to open the business bazaars, and the 80’s and 90’s era dance presentations from different year levels made the celebration a festive one. Different business activities like the business bazaars, business exhibits, quiz-­‐bee, business/corporate attire contest, movie marathon, comedy bar, business seminars, pinoy-­‐mini-­‐olympic-­‐the amazing race, were simultaneously happened during the two-­‐day celebration. Living Rosary MONTHLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS REPORT-­‐OCTOBER, SY-­‐2013-­‐2014 Page 4 October 5 The Team Negosyante conducted their annual Living Rosary at the OC Quadrangle at 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon. This was attended and headed by the TN officers together with Mrs. Lorna C. Condes and Mr. Arthur Abulencia. The thanksgiving prayer was participated by 50 volunteer business-­‐students. This is the team’s way of thanking the Lord for the guidance He gave to them for the first semester. The Team Negosyante of College of Business and Administration held their Living Rosary at the OC Quadrangle together with their adviser and department head Mrs. Lorna C. Condes last October 5. This is the TN’s way of thanking God for all the blessings the group has received for the first semester of SY2013-­‐2014. Prepared by: Mrs. LORNA C.
