2012-2013 Drawing II Syllabus Supplies needed (not provided in class): -2B and softer drawing pencils (4B, 6B) -Erasers [both art (white) and kneaded erasers are advised] -A 9x12 inch sketchbook (Plain, white paper.) Course expectations: -Students will complete a variety of projects while exploring different materials and subject matter. A major emphasis is placed on drawing with color. The sketchbook (visual journal) assignments will be given as take home assignments/homework. (Sketchbooks can also be used to practice new techniques and to record important information.) Extra credit: -Projects can be improved and returned for additional points. Grades and Points: -This is a project-based class (100% of the students grade will come from the assignments; there are no tests, quizzes or written assignments) - The sketchbook is approximately 1/5th of the students overall grade -Projects are worth 10 points per day (7 days=70 points possible) Sample projects: -Practice and exploration -Color and emotion (How can different colors express emotion?) -Monochromatic still life (Expression utilizing a limited selection of colors) -Complementary portraits (Complementary colors are directly across from each other on the color wheel.) -Hot/Cold figures (Warm colors=reds, oranges, yellows; Cool colors=blues, greens, purples) -Art Criticism project (We will learn how to observe, analyze, and discuss artwork.) -Perspective Project (One point, two point, and three point perspective) -Analogous color landscape (Analogous colors are right next to each other on the color wheel.)
