CHATEAU LAKE LOUISE STAINED GLASS PANELS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Unique Stained Glass Works, in Didsbury, has recently acquired hand-painted leaded
glass ceiling panels originally built for Chateau Lake Louise. These panels were
created in 1979, by artist, K.W.Lengauer, who chose to paint the Norwegian Poppy, the
Russian Thistle and Wild Rose, which grow naturally in the mountainous region.
When Fairmount Hotels joined with The Canadian Pacific Hotels in 1999, the panels
found a new life adorning the poker room at Frank Sissons Silver Dollar Casino in
Calgary. When Frank retired in 2010 the new owners removed the panels, damaging all
but 11 of them.
The salvaged panels have been reconfigured into window panels of varying shapes and
sizes by stained glass artist Bill Anthony. The lead frames have been removed and
replaced with non-toxic zinc.
