Position Title: Associate Director of Africa House
Position Summary: Direct planning and administration of programs and events to support New York
University students and faculty with an academic interest in the African continent that enhance, compliment, and strengthen related studies at the University. Develop and implement a plan to establish
Africa House as an important academic resource and diaspora center for New York University and New
York City. Create policies and procedures concerning program development and event planning. Design and implement outreach and advertising strategies to promote programs. Assist in the development of fundraising proposals and activities, manage budgets, and develop and manage Africa House's online presence.
Qualifications/Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Humanities or Social Sciences
Required Experience: 5 years' of increasingly responsible professional level experience including program development and budget administration and at least 2 years' in supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience: Experience working in an academic environment. Experience with writing grants.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact with individuals at all levels. Excellent organizational and public speaking skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Familiarity with African history, culture, politics, etc.
