Teen Parent Conference: The 7th Annual Teen
Parent/Single Parent Conference is scheduled for Nov. 17 at
Metro Community College’s South Omaha Campus, ITC
Building for 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Reservations are needed.

Try Another Way Program: This program is
underwritten with grant monies to meet the needs and interests
of teenage girls in our community. Classes are weekly and
held at the Vet’s building. Special presentations include:
Personal Trainer, Yoga, Recovering Drug Addict, SelfDefens e, and more. See Counselor for brochure, or call Pam at
443-8169.
SENIORS:
College Planning: By now, seniors should have
identified 1-3 colleges, applied for admissions, completed any
additional scholarship form required by the college as needed,
identified deadlines for special programs like RHOP or
Honors, etc. In addition, seniors should continue to do
scholarship searches and complete forms for those
scholarships they qualify for.
Marine Corps ROTC: The ROTC application is due
October 27, 2006. Interested seniors may contact Capt. Maxx
Godsey at godseym@marines.usmc.mil for information and
the application packet.
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
offers servi ces to support prospective student-athletes who
want to play sports in college. Student-athletes need to register
at the NCAA Clearinghouse. New Eligibility Rules went into
effect beginning 05-06, so be sure to get on-line and read
about the changes. Go to www.ncaa.org NCAA’s website for
student athletes planning to play in college. And, go to:
NCAA Clearinghouse website which lists approved courses
for student athletes planning to play in college at
www.ncaaclearinghouse.net. Students need the high school
code to access the list. WHS’s code is 282-440.
Nebraska Wesleyan U. Scholarship Requirement
Notice: In ’03-04 Wesleyan start ed requiring scores for ACT
and SAT tests taken only though December of the student’s
senior year, and class rank on transcripts during the first
semester of the senior year to determine scholarship eligibility.
Wesleyan uses the highest test score or class rank through
December. Wesleyan also requires a Counselor Report and
transcript. In addition, the application asks for extracurricular
activities, honors and awards information and may include a
Personal Statement and 3 letters of recommendation from
teachers.
Work Study Students: Your pay stubs are due to the
Guidance Office prior to the first day of the month.

the ACT or SAT test can find sample test questions and in
some cases download free information, can go on-line and
find samples of test questions at

directions and practice questions, and to down load a free,
full-length official practice test.

JUNIORS:
ASVAB Interpretation: On Oct. 26th, juniors will
have their ASVAB scores returned and interpreted for them
during English 11 classes. Juniors will also be asked to
complete an online survey regarding the ASVAB.
