SCHOOL & COMMUNITY
The flagship high school in the Provo School District, Provo High
offers a wide range of academic, vocational, technical, family
science, and fine arts courses. From nationally ranked dance
teams, the basketball team with most wins in the state, to the
highest number of IB and AP courses in the county, Provo High
has long-standing tradition of diversity and excellence
Provo High School is located in Provo, which lies in a
mountainous valley in central Utah. Provo is the state’s third
largest city of approximately 120,000 residents. With an average
of 1800 students, PHS is part of the Provo School District and is
one of the three high schools in the district.
Located across the street from Brigham Young University, Provo
High enjoys many of the university’s faculty and staff among its
supportive patrons. PHS shares reciprocal
partnerships with BYU and Utah Valley University, which
benefit all three institutions’ academic programs. College
concurrent-enrollment credit is offered from UVU
for numerous courses taught at PHS. A UVU Distance Learning
Lab is located on Campus in which many students take university
courses right on the Provo High Campus.
In addition to a wide range of AP Courses, Provo High School
became the first and only International Baccalaureate School in
Utah County in 2007. Because of strong curriculum and school
choice policy, students from all areas of Utah County attend PHS.
The student body of Provo High School is reflective of the
community with approximately 35 % ethnicity.
PHS has a block schedule with four 80 minute periods rotating
every other day for a total of eight periods.
