From nationally ranked dance teams, the basketball team with most wins in the state, to the highest number of IB and AP courses in the county, Provo High has long-standing tradition of diversity and excellence Provo High School is located in Provo, which lies in a mountainous valley in central Utah. Provo is the state’s third largest city of approximately 120,000 residents. With an average of 1800 students, PHS is part of the Provo School District and is one of the three high schools in the district. Located across the street from Brigham Young University, Provo High enjoys many of the university’s faculty and staff among its supportive patrons. PHS shares reciprocal partnerships with BYU and Utah Valley University, which benefit all three institutions’ academic programs. College concurrent-enrollment credit is offered from UVU for numerous courses taught at PHS. A UVU Distance Learning Lab is located on Campus in which many students take university courses right on the Provo High Campus. In addition to a wide range of AP Courses, Provo High School became the first and only International Baccalaureate School in Utah County in 2007. Because of strong curriculum and school choice policy, students from all areas of Utah County attend PHS. The student body of Provo High School is reflective of the community with approximately 35 % ethnicity. PHS has a block schedule with four 80 minute periods rotating every other day for a total of eight periods.
