Join the Human Resources Team at UNT as we continue our journey to
transform HR partnerships and services for our colleges, divisions, and
departments. It's an exciting time at UNT, with many current and new
HR initiatives on the horizon. We are looking for a Human Resources
Generalist to be part of supporting these initiatives and our dynamic
culture.
Department Overview
As one of Texas' largest Universities, the University of North Texas
(UNT) is a 500-acre campus located in Denton, Texas, approximately 39
miles from the most dynamic metropolitan areas in the U.S., Dallas/Fort
Worth. UNT is home to over 36,000 students and employs over 8500
faculty and staff members. The UNT Human Resources Department
partners with the campus community, providing guidance in the areas of
compensation, employee relations, training & development, employment,
benefits, and records management expertise.
The Human Resources Generalist proactively partners with managers,
faculty and staff to address a variety of workplace issues. Through the
facilitation of problem solving, the incumbent will provide guidance and
advice on HR-related issues in a way that is planned and integrated with
the business needs and challenges of UNT customers.
This position's primary responsibilities include:
Job Description
* Providing guidance and coaching to business units on issues related to
all areas of human resources management.
* Working on projects related to recruitment and employment, employee
relations, compensation, and training within assigned business units.
* Job classification and compensation analysis.
* Developing and delivering training.
* Serving as the subject matter expert (sme) resource for new position
classifications, reclassifications, job evaluations, salary matters, salary
administration policies and procedures, titles and grades.
* Serving as the technical SME for compensation related systems such as
EIS salary administration module, job code table, job and position data;
and Classification Manager.
* Providing guidance to managers and employees on employee relations
issues.
* Working with departments to develop recruiting strategies.
* Assisting with streamlining HR policies, practices and processes.
* Partnering with HR Managers to diagnose organizational design,
development or training needs and determining the most appropriate
tool available to meet those needs.
* Providing leadership in the change process to create a productive and
engaged culture.

* Taking initiative, working independently, effectively managing projects,
and helping drive HR initiatives.
Bachelor's degree with specialization in Human Resources Management,
Industrial Relations, Organizational Development or related field; and
four years of progressive human resources experience. Must have a
strategic approach to problem solving and tactical implementation skills
(i.e. ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw
valid conclusions for reporting purposes).

Minimum Qualifications
*Experience working in all areas of human resources.
*Proven track record of strong business judgment connecting human
resources with company goals/mission.
*Problem solving and analytical skills.
*A high degree of credibility and integrity.
*Strong communication skills (writing, oral and listening).
*Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrates flexibility as well as strong
commitment to building and sustaining relationships.
*Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have a valid Texas driver's license (or ability to obtain) and good
driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
PeopleSoft (version 8 or higher)
