UNT Policy Specialist Department Overview The University of North Texas is one of the emerging research universities of Texas. Founded in Denton, Texas in 1890, the University of North Texas is today the third largest public university in Texas and one of the fastest growing higher-education institutions in the country. Located on the north side of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, UNT plays an important role in education, research and service in the North Texas region. The Policy Specialist is incorporated in the area of Finance & Administration and has primary responsibility for leading the University initiative to review and revise existing policies to reflect newly adopted Board of Regents Rules and System Administration rules. Job Description UNT is seeking a Policy Specialist to assist with a complete transformation of its policy manual and to drive the future organization, review and maintenance of university policies. This position provides a great opportunity for a self-starter looking to jump in and establish themselves. The Policy Specialist position will report to the Senior Associate Vice President for Administration, but will also work closely with the Office of General Counsel and other university departments that may be involved in the policy development and revision process. Specific responsibilities include: * Facilitate the Policy Advisory Group through the development of a written project plan with associated deliverables * Develop and maintain strong working relationships with policy owners in order to facilitate the establishment and maintenance of updated university policies and procedures * Review policies for understanding and serve in a technical writer capacity to ensure consistency of application, process and a quality product * Coordinate the policy review and approval process between policy owners, the Policy Advisory Group, General Counsel and senior leadership * Maintain and administer the university policy website, policy library and archives * Create and maintain on-line support and tracking tools of related information Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in related field and three years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: * Results-oriented project management style that emphasizes collaboration and facilitation * Technical writing experience * Knowledge of or ability to rapidly assimilate University policies/procedures and Texas rules and regulations related to functional area * Ability to plan and conceptualize and make sound business decisions * Strong presentation skills * Strong problem solving skills * Strong critical thinking skills * Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing * Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships * Ability to work independently Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in related field is strongly preferred * Experience working in this capacity in an institution of higher education or another public agency is strongly preferred * Previous experience with revising or suggesting policies * Functional experience maintaining web pages and databases For more information or to apply please visit: jobs.unt.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=56407
