You should not accept multiple offers or accept an offer with the intention of withdrawing your acceptance at a later date. Interviewing Code of Ethics As a participant in the Rutgers On-campus Interviewing Program (Career Knight), you must adhere to the ethical standards established by University Career Services. Failure to conduct your recruiting activities according to these standards will jeopardize not only your own job search, but also the broader relationship between Rutgers University and affected employers. Résumé Submission Guidelines Only submit résumés to those employers in which you have a sincere interest and with which you plan to interview, if selected. Candidate Selection and Interview Scheduling Guidelines If an employer selects you for an interview you are expected to schedule, prepare and be present for the interview. Interview Cancellation Guidelines • If you must cancel the interview, you have two options for canceling: a. Prior to the week of the interview —cancel online through “Interviews I Qualify For.” b. The week of the interview—call 848-445-7287 between 8:30 am and 5:00 p.m. at least 48 hours prior to your interview; otherwise you will be considered a no-show. • After three interview cancellations, you will be blocked from Career Knight/RBS Careers for this academic year. • If you cancel an interview, you must inform the employer in writing and contact Lisa Goddard, University Career Services, Recruiting Programs Coordinator at lgoddard@echo.rutgers.edu. No-Show Guidelines • Scheduling an interview is a formal commitment between you, the employer and Rutgers University. You are committed to showing up for that interview. • You will be considered a “no show” if you do not appear for your interview and do not call to cancel at least 48 hours prior to your interview. • After one no show, you will be blocked from Career Knight/RBS Careers. Offer and Acceptance Guidelines • If you RECEIVE an offer, you can continue to interview with other employers. Make sure that you respond to the offering employer prior to the deadline. It is acceptable to ask for an extension. • Once you ACCEPT an offer, it is ethically wrong to continue to interview, send letters of application or conduct other job search activities. You have made your decision and a commitment. Your job search is over. • By accepting a job offer, you are making a formal commitment to the employer. There are no circumstances that would legitimize your reneging on an offer. Reneging on a job offer is unacceptable. This not only does damage to your personal credibility but also reflects badly on Rutgers. The employer may decide to discontinue recruiting at Rutgers, thus hurting the chances of future candidates. If you have accepted an internship or COOP and are seeking Full Time Employment you may participate in on campus interviewing for full time positions ONLY that begin at the conclusion of your internship or COOP. However, you are not eligible to interview or accept offers for COOP or internship positions. • If you renege on an offer, you will be blocked from Career Knight/RBS Careers • Report all offers and acceptances to Lisa Goddard , University Career Services, Recruiting Programs Coordinator at lgoddard@echo.rutgers.edu and Wenylla Reid, Manager Office of Career Management at reid@business.rutgers.edu. Misrepresenting Guidelines Your student profile will periodically be checked against the registrar’s records, e.g. GPA, work authorization, and graduation date. If you misrepresent yourself, your privileges on the Career Knight will be rescinded. NOTE: you are not permitted to share your password. Access to Career Knight is not transferable.
