QuickChek Selected One of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey for 6th Time
WHITEHOUSE STATION, NJ -- QuickChek Corporation, a market leader in food services with
an exceptional fresh coffee and fresh food program, has been named one of the “Best Places to
Work in New Jersey” in 2016.
It is the sixth time in the past seven years the fresh convenience market chain has been named to
the list compiled by the weekly business journal NJBIZ.
The family-owned company employs more than 3,700 team members in 142 retail store locations
throughout the Garden State, New York’s Hudson Valley and Long Island and enjoys the rare
distinction of being named one of the best places to work in both New Jersey and New York
State.
The company’s coffee was voted best in America in a national consumer survey conducted by
Technomic in 2014.
The “Best Places to Work” and “Best Companies to Work For” lists recognize each state’s top
employers who show a dedication to their employees’ growth and quality of life. Employees are
surveyed as part of the awards programs which are designed to identify, recognize and honor the
best places of employment whose practices benefit each state's businesses, economy, and
workforce.
“We are very proud to once again be named one of the best places to work in New Jersey,” said
QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. “Our mission is to be a Great Place to Work, a Great Place to
Shop and a Great Place to Invest. As our team members have input into this selection, this
recognition confirms we remain on the right track.”
QuickChek invests in its team members. The company’s starting pay has been above the New
Jersey and New York state minimums for the past eight years. Career opportunities abound: all
of the company’s district leaders and most of its vice presidents began their careers working in a
local store.
As a privately-held company, Durling cited the company has the ability to move at its own pace
and implement programs to ensure it attracts, retains, and develops the best people as well as
empowering them to be successful.
“When you come into any of our stores, the store leader manages that store as if it is their own,”
added Durling. “This helps them connect with our customers on a personal level, to create that
neighborhood shopping experience, and provide the outstanding customer service for which we
are known.”
Full-time employees are offered a wide variety of affordable health and well care benefits
including medical, dental and vision to life insurance, a 401(k) savings plan, fitness center
reimbursement, and even pet insurance.
QuickChek continues to buck the current economic trend, opening 31 new stores and hiring an
additional 1,200 people since 2007. QuickChek opened five new stores in 2015; each new store
creates between 40-50 new local jobs and generates approximately $1 million in tax revenue.
Additional new locations are planned for 2016 and beyond.
QuickChek will receive its “Best Places to Work in New Jersey” award on April 19 at a
ceremony at the iPlay America’s Event Center in Freehold.
The company has been named one of the “Best Companies to Work For” in New York by The
New York State Society for Human Resources Management (NYS-SHRM) in each of the past
four years and will be honored at an awards dinner on May 3 at the Albany Marriott.
